yea yea, I know its kind of off-topic, but this topic is about BGII, so it belongs here right?

anyway heres my thought...

What if BGII was remade in first person view like Morrowind?? That would be cool .

What are your opinions on this?

Dron_Cah 12-11-2003 10:21 PM

Uh, ok. Is that like the view from a first person shooter? i would assume so, but not quite sure. Not so optimistic about it being cool, but it would be different.

Sorry if this post sounds a little stupid, I just wanted peoples opinion on my idea.

I have never thought that a RPG like BG would work well as a third-person camera behind (a la Morrowind), but after playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (also by BioWare) I have changed my mind. I would love to see BioWare put out a D&D game using the same engine as KOTOR.

But as a first-person view; no, I don't think it would lend itself to the mood of the game.

Just my 2cents...

Of course, many consideration would have to be made then, about how the fighting graphics would work, party interaction, party control....

Wizardry 8 (my pre-BGII favorite) is a good example of a first-person, party-based RPG. In my opinion, they did a fantastic job with it, but I've heard a lot of people begging to differ. If you haven't played it: you set up the position configuration of your party, but you share a single first-person perspective, and only see the other party members in their portraits around the edges of the screen (although you see their spells and ranged weapons fly onto the screen from "behind" you). Of course, the beauty factor was nowhere near Morrowind's, but it's an older game.

then it would be more suitable with a rotating camera like the one in NWN...but i thought that game was alot less engaging than the BGs...could it have been because of the perspective?

Wizards and Warriors was created like this. I didn't think it was bad, but I like the 3rd person view better.
