Um, you don't need to kill Lavok. It's actually better if you don't. If you followed his instructions (which requires you to believe what he tells you) and get the demon heart, activate the sphere, and return to him, then you can get more XP. If your main character is a wizard (which yours is not), then he will give you the planar sphere as a stronghold.

In order to kill disable him, if you want to try not cheating, try launching a few Melf's Acid Arrows at him. They'll really disrupt his spell casting. Also, you could attack, go to a different area, rest, and then attack again repeating as necessary.

But you still need to fight him the first time. Does Edwin have Breach memorized? If so, then you can knock his defenses down, and have the rest of the party just hack him down in melee. Once you are able to damage him he'll go down quick enough in a melee fight. Standard mage tactics work here. Also, while Edwin casts Breach, you cast Haste. This will increase the number of melee attacks against Lavok. The key in any mage fight is to pause the game after they trigger their defenses, and look in the text area to see exactly what spells they have up; this determines what spells you need to get their defenses down.

If you do not have Breach, then this is a much harder fight. You can try Remove Magic or Dispel Magic, but no guarantees that it will take down his defenses. Also, using spells like Melf's Minute Meteors and Magic Missile can make a difference, especially if he does not have Spell Turning or Spell Deflection up at the time.

if you send someone using mislead spell, you can pickpocket a second ring of acuity off him...

Userunfriendly, your the biggest cheeser I've seen on these boards. Your worse then I was when I was cheating.

Dalamar, it might be more helpful if you told us levels and gear of other party members. After all, they're helping you fight Lavok too. ;)

Lavok knows Spell Turning, Mislead, Spell Shield, Spell Immunity, a host of high-level save-or-die spells, and Power Word: Stun. I hope Edwin knows Breach or Dispel Magic or Remove Magic or Secret Word or Spell Thrust, because you have to shave off Lavok's protections in order to damage him, especially that annoying Mislead of his.

As for Lavok's damage spells, keep summons in his face and let the rest of your party damage him from afar. Unless you've installed a mod, Lavok's going to attack whatever's closest to him.

You could also reload from a save before you entered the Planar Sphere and come back when your party has more levels. (Tip of the day: whenever someone gives you a quest, you have a near-unlimited amount of time in which to complete that quest unless there's a specific time limit on it, as in "meet me here in one hour" means you'd better be there in one hour or else. ;) )

(I could also say something about how half the posts on this thread left me thinking "now how could this be of any use to him in his current situation?!" But I'll chalk it up to grouchiness and go to bed. )

No need to flame someone for wanting to be cheesey. If Userunfriendly wants to power game, let him go ahead and power game. It's not like you can physically stop him anyway.
