Is there ANY way, including cheat codes, file editing, etc. to change the alignment of a character once the game is started? I want to be able to use two of the Archmagi robes.

Depends if your playing multiplayer or not... if you are and feel like cheating, you can duplicate any item any number of times you like, such as a tome of leadership and influence. You can do this by merely puting the item on a char, exporting him, giving it to the naxt char... then when done with all chars, re-import each of your chars.

Also, there are cheat codes... lemme check here... ok, sorta a long project. All this info can be found in the Sorcerer's Place in one of the hint walkthroughs.

To enable the cheats... you must first edit baldur.ini in the main directory of Baldur's Gate and under where it says [Game Options] write: Cheats=1

Then, when your in the game, press Ctrl-Tab to open/close the console. For the good-neutral-evil robes, type: CLUAConsole:CreateItem("CLCK15",1)
or
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("CLCK16",1)
or
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("CLCK17",1)
