Dalamar
Bard kit: Blade
Race: Half-Elf
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
STR 15
DEX 15
CON 15
WIS 13

What do you want us to say about it?

Woohoo! So it is a good Blade but the question is... do you know how to play him to his full power...

i agree and also have that question. Its a nice blade...kindof stupid though, isn't he?

Gwanyn 11-30-2003 03:10 PM

Well, does he have to be smart? ;) I'm not really familliar with Blades, but that one sounds good to me

Kinda' stupid? My first character (Undead Hunter) had 3 INT. Now THAT'S stupid.

well, the only function of int in the game is

limited wish spell better options
ability to cast spells from scrolls if you're a mage

actually a sorceror is BETTER off stupider than dirt, if his or her wisdom is good...

besides, all the times you need good intelligence, you should just drink a potion of super genius...

urm...your undead hunter would probably be spat out by mindflayers in the underdark...

"ssssssssssss---no brainsssssss here...pfeui!!! yukkk..."

hey, here's an idea...a mod that would make mindflayers be attracted by higher intelligence...so a fighter drinking down potions of intelligence would actually be attracting mindflayers...

Conan: Glug, glug, glug!!!

mindflayers: Gourmet buffet!!! Feed me!!!

The intelligence will lower how many spells you can learn and how often you succeed and not fail when copying them down into your spellbook. But you could always just drink a potion of genus or similar potion beforehand. The really weird thing is I made a character almost the same today (bard:blade, half-elf, and chaotic neutral).

1. 10 INT is not stupid, it's about average intelligence, 3 INT would be just smart enough not to forget to breathe
2. limited wish selections are based on wisdom not intelligence
3. Higher Int will give you the possibility to write more spells in your spellbook, but that isn't a main feature of the bard anyway. It's more like a mage to have a HUGE spellbook. 3rd edition even places the bard along with the sorcerer with limited pre-selected spells, so you're halfway there ;)

Blades are by far my favorite class, but you have to play them right. There spells are best used not as backup for your wizard, but for buffing up yourself. With good buffs and the offensive spin, you are a top notch fighter, but you level up incredibly fast. It's a unique class, with a unique gameplay style, more finesse than might or magic. Just remember: your battles are all about timing; the moment your spin wears off and your buffs are gone, you're just a sub par fighter or mage.
