Hi all, I just finished my new program: PortraitViewer. It's a tool to manage your custom portraits in BG1 and BG2 so if you'd like to give it a try, here's the link:

http://httpd.chello.nl/~heuzinkveld/...raitviewer.zip (<300kb)

Please let me know what you think of it, as this is my first real Delphi project.

I have never even heard of programming in Delphi.....but it's a good program, so the system obviously has its merits. It works fine, Guiseppe, but there's one thing I would definitely change: Every time I move or rename a portrait, in my looooong list of portraits, my little slider bar automatically gets kicked right back up to the top, and it's kinda tough to remember where the heck I was. Would correcting this be difficult to implement?
Apart from that, the only possible improvement I could suggest would be to include a simple bitmap editor, whose principal feature would be a tool that allows you to change one color to another. PAINT already does this, but only on a very small scale: You can only change one specific pigment value to another value, and that gets really tedious. What I'm talking about is a program that changes ALL variations of one color to another color, so I can say, "Hey, I don't like his purple cloak. I think I'll make it green." I have a program that does this, but it's huge--something smaller, and built for bitmaps, would be just the thing. I realize that this would take a MASSIVE additional amount of code, but it's the only improvement I could think of. Good work!

Hi SixOfSpades,

Thx for your reply, I'm working on the selection problem so you should see an update soon. I'm already looking in to bitmap processing, but that could take a bit of time, since I have no xp in that area.

I've also set up a very basic homepage for the program, as soon as there's an update, I will also extend the homepage some more. Here's the link: http://httpd.chello.nl/~heuzinkveld/martijn/

Hey Guiseppe

Nifty little program you got there, just wondering wat version of delphi did you program it in and can i have a look at the source (thats why i asked what version u used i only have delphi 5) because ive only just started learning delphi myself after getting a free copy, legally i might add to

Hi dex_man,

I started this project in Delphi 4 but I recently got Delphi 6 so I transferred the project over to Delphi 6. I don't think the basics in 4, 5 or 6 are very different. Just some more options and tools and components.

I don't want to publish the complete sourcecode yet, but if you have questions I may be able to send some examples or help you in any other way.

Thanx for your reply!

Version 1.01 is finished!

The selection problem has been fixed and memory usage has decreased a bit.

The new version can be downloaded here: http://httpd.chello.nl/~heuzinkveld/martijn/
