Ran into a random encounter I'v never seen before. While traveling from the bridge district to the docks I was stopped by a group of what looked to be some fat merchants and thier wives , They asked if I was Julius (my PC) since I was in a hurry I said no. They left. Now it's bugging that I didn't get to find what would have happened. And I'm wondering why I haven't seen this before. I think it may have something to do with one of my strongholds.(the Keep, Thieves Guild and the Five Flagons; I'm a fighter/mage/thief)

It seems to be some leftover that actually should have had more significance.

If you tell them you're it, they will shapeshift to the image of your party members and attack.
It is an easy fight but a bit confusing, because they also get green circles (like summons). However you can tell them easily from your party, because they have no armor.

Maybe this has something to do with the Dopplegangers from BG1, but there's nothing else to this encounter, that I know of.

That was a VERY confusing fight. Took me like ten reloads. Good thing you avoided it.

They are not Doppelgangers, but Rakshasas. Some speculate that Jonny sent them, others say that possessing the FoAges will trigger their appearance.

Raksasha's, eh? That makes a whole lot more sense than dopplegangers...well, to me at least...Hm, feral, i don't think so. I've encountered them without going through the grove...creepy extra though
