How exactly do you "backstab: to get the multiplyer bonuses i tried hiding in shadows but when i attack from behind i leav the shadows?? lil help...

How do you backstab to get the bonus? Make sure you're behind the person you're trying to hit, make sure you're hiding in shadows or invisible, and have good THAC0 so you can make the hit before losing your cover. And even then, it doesn't always work. I've had better luck with potions of invisibility than with thief or stalker stealth.

Ya that makes sense because every time my theif would attack he'd turn visible right brfore he'd attack. Maybe i'll look into memorizing some handy invisibility spells

If you are invisible and attack you will become visible upon the next attack whether it's a hit or not, so if you're thief has a bad THAC0 it's possible that you miss your backstab and thus do no damage. However there usually is a THAC0 bonus of 5 for attacking out of shadows/invisibility
