Checking those calculations from Dundee about Impaler and dual wielding I have one question : do you guys use GM patch and why (why not) ?
I don't because I think Bioware did that for a reason and because I know the game too well now that I play on Insane and it is still boring with the exception of few areas and fights. (Improved ...) Maybe someone will convince me to change my mind though. ;) |
I use the Grandmastery Patch for the same reason I'm playing on Core Rules (never easier, never more difficult). I really like the 2nd ed D&D ruleset and think it is well balanced. Therefore I welcome any possibility to make SoA more D&D.

I use the GM patch. I can`t actually say why. Just for the sake of the game I guess.

So that Fighters will have some better justification to 5* over the Ranger/Paladin/Barbarian's 2*. 5* is a huge investment and sacrifice.
|
Also, because I usually play on insane, that's my justification for using it. Monsters can do double damage, so I can have "standard" grandmastery. Dundee has a point in that there would be very little point in investing a further 3*'s into a weapon for very minimal bonuses.
|
Most important thing is: EXTRA ATTACK. That's the SOLE reason I would ever invest more than 3 points.
