when i equip items on imoen they dont show up on the game...for instance:

on the inventory screen i put a cloak or a robe on imoen and it doesn't look like she has it on. it will show if she has a bow or a sword in her hand but not robes, cloaks, helms(king strohm's helm) it also does not show it on the regular gaming screen. it gives me the abilities and effects but just doesn't show it. any ideas why or how i can fix it? i have SOA installed. it's not a great big deal since i still get the effects of the item but it kinda screws the whole look of the game up.

Cloaks are never seen, and robes aren't seen because Imoen is a thief.

yip,
Imoen has the thief avatar because she is a dual-class and so robes won't show. Leather armor however will (to some extent) but disables your spells.
The mask is the only helmet thieves and mages can wear and its use as a helmet is kind of cheesy (it was meant only as a quest item and to be useless afterwards)
Why the mask is showing on pure mages (which shouldn't wear helmets either) I can't say.

Faceman, the mask shows on all characters because thats the icon its been given. its usable by all characters because its a quest item. i dont think it has any other qualities, like protecting from critical hits, though...

It does protect from Critical Hits. Even if you made a floppy hat and placed it in your headgear slot, it will protect you from Critical Hits.

there is a way around that, but it does involve blatant cheating...my imoen wears leather armor, and casts spells...

Don't Ioun stones protect from critical hits as well?

Faceman 10-23-2003 09:05 AM

They shouldn't, but AFAIK they do.
The problem is that due to some hard code everything placed in the "head" slot protects from critical hits. That's why Ioun Stones originally were restricted and not wearable by mages. Same for King Strohm's mask. It was supposed to be a quest item that does virtually nothing but soon became the "spare helmet" for mages.

LoL! That's some creative thinking: using strohms helmet to protect against criticals.
