When I am going from Brynn Shander to the Asylum the game just sort of freezes. I tried cleaning the disk, didn't work. I made a backup and reinstalled the game, still doesn't work. Downloaded the patch and that didn't work either. I am out of ideas.
I was thinking it was the Disk (Disk 3) but under My Compurter the drive seems to read it. So I dont know. Any help? |
There is a movie that normally plays upon entering the Asylum....if the file for this movie has become corrupted (through a scratched CD, perhaps), trying to play the movie will usually result in a computer lockdown. And a one-time solution won't work: The computer will attempt to play that movie every single time you go to Spellhold. You may have to find a friend who's willing to let you burn a copy of their Disc 3, to get the non-corrupted file.....or write to BioWare and do essentially the same thing.
Of course, that's IF my theory about the corrupted movie file is correct. |
Under baldur.ini try setting all the things in the movie subsection to 0.
Not sure if that'll work, and if it doesn't, change it back. Just an idea though. Edit: In fact, looking at it, I'm 99% sure it won't work. [ 10-17-2003, 11:41 PM: Message edited by: Grammar ] |
Grammar, I think movies with a value of 1 have been played while a value of 0 means it has yet to play. He'd have to set it to 1 to make the game think the movie has already been viewed.

i think if you send the broken cd in to bioware, they will replace it

Hmm, ok, so what do I do? Write Bioware, explaint the problem and ask for a new Disk 3?

That's a possible answer Iron_Ranger. They should give it to you free except for shipping and handling

Put CD3 into your CDROM drive, go to a DOS prompt (Start - Run - type "command") and type this at the screen:
dir [driveletter]:\movie*.bif /s Where [driveletter] is the letter given to your CDROM drive. It should come up with something like Directory of [some path] movies.bif {or possibly movie.bif} 1 File(s) displayed Where [some path] is the folder it found it in. Then type: copy [some path]\movies.bif C:\TestFolder\movies.bif (replace movies.bif with movie.bif if that was the filename displayed in the search). If this fails, we've found your problem. |
