And boy, am I pissed!
Loaded up my Final Save game, yada yada yada. Did everything there was to be done in Ulgoth's Beard, yada yada yada. Got sent all the way to a maze island for a dumb cloak. (What, are there no Guccis in Ulgoth's Beard?) Talked to the dwarf in the Inn. My text box said My Map Has Been Updated. I check the map. It was NOT updated. I go talk to Ike. My text box said My Map Has Been Updated. I check the map. It was NOT updated. So now I have to go to Durlag's Tower when it's not on my map. Okay, I know roughly where it is, I go to the maps adjacent to where it should be and try to poke my way to it. I open up the Spoiler Document on the ToSC CD and it says to go to the Naskel Fair and head east. I do this. In short, I have the full version of ToSC, except that I can't get to Durlag's Tower, and I also can't even get back to Ulgoth's Beard. Pardon me, but this bites. This is one hell of a bug to let slip through production. Am I going to have to use the CLUA Console to cheat myself there or what? Help, please? ------------------ Boots of Stealth: 1125 gp Shadow Armor: 7875 gp Slipping an Oil of Firey Burning down the back of Sarevok's armor: Priceless |
Hm, I installed ToSC from the beginning, but I always find Durlag´s Tower before reaching Ulgoths Beard. I connaot remember exactly in which way I find it, but if I remember right, in the halfling village (Gullykin) you get also a hint for the tower.

I think you didnt just convert save files http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif. If you didnt your map can not show Durlags Tower nor Ulgoths Beard.

Bad luck Six'. The game only has two maps to show on your original: Ulgoth's and Durlag's. If you start the game with TotSC installed, they appear automatically, so...it may be a save game conversion as Zbyszek suggested. Sorry brother, that's probably no help to you at allhttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif.

Okay....what I did was load up my last Final Save game I had, which dates back to before I installed ToSC. I did not 'convert this saved game' because I don't know how....how?
I shall also try the tactic of starting a brand-spankin' new game and see if that works. Thanks! .....But if anybody else comes up with any bright ideas, let me know. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif ------------------ Boots of Stealth: 1125 gp Shadow Armor: 7875 gp Slipping an Oil of Firey Burning down the back of Sarevok's armor: Priceless |

In your BG folder, there should be a program called MConvert. Click on it, select your saved game and convert it. Dont forget to tell us if it worked !! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Luckily, I already found how to fix it, but thanks a bunch anyway, Ertai. That program is definitely not something I should have to go digging for, but that's just what I was forced to do.
This is what my manual says: "If you have beaten the original game, BG makes a 'final save' prior to the final battle. Loading this final save game will put you back into the game world, but things have changed slightly. First, it is still Chapter 7 and you have not yet completed the game. Second, the world has all the TSC changes made to it. You will start in Ulgoth's Beard, having adventured there from Baldur's Gate. You can return to BG at any time. At some point you will want to beat the game again. We have made the ending more interesting, challenging, and rewarding." And that's ALL it says. Not a damn word about finding the MCONVERT program in your Baldur's Gate directory and using it to update all your saved games, INCLUDING the Mission Pack that they give you to start playing ToSC with! Serves me right for buying the retail version, reading the manual, and believing what it said, I suppose. I'm still angry at BioWare for overlooking such a big problem. Now I won't feel guilty about my friend sending me the burn of BG2. One final question: I bought my Cleric some new spells at Ulgoth's Beard. The innkeeper only had one of each, leading one to believe that they should be copied down instead of used up. But he can't copy them down, and yes he IS capable of casting 4th level spells. Am I stuck using them in Scroll form? ------------------ Boots of Stealth: 1125 gp Shadow Armor: 7875 gp Slipping an Oil of Firey Burning down the back of Sarevok's armor: Priceless |
Spoilers below:
Hmm, I didn't go via the Ulgoth's teleportation route myself. Durlag's simply appeared on my map after I installed and I just walked there (I opened the save I had with my party camped outside the temple in the Undercity prior to the final battle and had them go back out through the Thieve's maze.) |
SixOfSpades, clerics cant write spells in their books, so you have to use them in scroll form.
