My buddy is trying install BG2 so we can play online together. He formarly had it instalkled, but we both re-installed to make sure we have the same patches and mods. He keeps getting an error at 59% that says:


Component transfer error
component: cd2 movies
file group: cd2 movies
file: D:\cd2\movies\movies.bif
error: data error cyclic redundency check


ANy idea what this about? we really want to play soon.

It has trouble reading the CD. Make sure you let the CD spin for a while after inserting it into the CD-ROM to let the CD-ROM read it properly. Usually after putting in a CD, the CD-ROM will blink very rapidly. Waiting for the blinking to stop before continuing with the installation.

That would explain the errors I had to put up with earlier. Similar, but a different file. It was the music for me. That and it seemed only to happen if I let the disc set too long. rather than too short.
