A few questions. First, I had installed the game on my C: drive, then installed (via copying only) a version to mod on an external drive. Then, main computer crashed -- new HDD. Okay, now I reinstall on the C: drive and the external copy does not work. What gives? Any advice?
Second, and related, what are the procedures to get the second copy working. I remember there were several folders you could leave in the original installation's folder and that you could edit baldur.ini to reference those folders, saving disk space. I also recall that really all you had to do was copy/paste the whole game into your second "installation" and then run your mod programs and open the game using the second .exe file. Any advice? It's been about 6 mos, and I'm just getting around to this. I can't bring myself to play KOTOR again yet, so I'm itching for some BG action. Please help. thx. Also, if I'm installing ToB, I don't need to run a bugfix do I? |
<span style="color: lightblue">On the bugfixes - uninstall everything unnoficial, install TOB, THEN you need to do some bugfixes. The official patch and baldurdash fixpack for TOB are linked to in the Forum Guidlines and FAQ sticky thread. They're considered as necesary.

Why was I thinking baldurdash for ToB was not necessary?

BUMP
Please reply, someone. I know someone on this forum once told me how to have a second version of the game for moding without having to do a reinstall. And, can someone please confirm that you need to baldurdash ToB. I didn't think there were any bugs left that baldurdash needed to fix. I will be using the EoU mod and others, but are bugs still present w/out baldurdash? |
cant u just copy the whole folder over in to your other drive. That should work. I think i did that.

Yes, Ross, but a lot of space is taken up with 3 folders in the main folder. I forget the details, but you can edit baldur.ini to keep from needing to copy these 3 folders.
Here's my big problem, I've got savegames that the mod version won't recognize. It goes to my regular savegame folder no matter what I do. |
<span style="color: lightblue">The following files contain the game version - back up your unmodded varieties (after Official Patch and Baldurdash), and you can switch between them at will by swapping these:
- Contents of Data - Contents of Override - Dialogue.tlk - Chitin.key You may also want to back up BGMAIN.EXE just in case. On Baldurdashing, it is considered to be important in TOB aswell as SOA, but only after the official patch. |
ToB needs baldurdashing. If you believe that ToB is without bugs after the official patch, then you sir are a half-orc barbarian with Int 1 ;)
