I like to complete as many quests as possible by the end of each chapter, and I like to make sure every quest in my journal is completedby the end of the chapter I'm in. but I have a few quests listed in my journal that it does not seem can be completed. for example:

'Idle hands in Imnesvale', the small quest where you buy some swords for some youngsters, seems unfinishable. It appears as though I've done everything I can related to it, but nothing seems to finish it.

also:

'Ranger - Protecter of Umar hills', appears after beating the Shade Lord, but it seems like that's all it is; an entry on the "quests that need to be completed" side of my journal.

can these quests be somehow completed, were they left unfinished, or what?

thanks

<span style="color: lightblue">'Idle Hands in Immesvale' - if you gave the kids all of what they wanted, go find them somewhere where they would find an adventure.
'Ranger Protector of the Umar Hills' - Go talk to the mayor of Immesvale.

I think that the "Ranger- Protector of Umar Hills" in your journal is the start of the Ranger stronghold. In that case I think you have to go to the Merella's cabin and someone approaches you and the quest begins(about three days after you complete the shade lord quest). If you've taken too long you may have lost your stronghold.

I don't want to spoil anything but you should not have gave the kids swords and beer either. PM me if you want more information.

There's no shouldn't in BG2 quests. It is role-playing and your choices affect the further course of action. Whether this is a good one is - as in life - not always foreseeable. If you play an evil character you may WANT to stick it to the kids. If you're a good char you may want to do everybody a favor and just cannot say "no". Whatever you do makes up your own specific story. one thing that is so beautiful about SoA and accounts for its replayability.

Your right but I just wanted to warn him. I've read many posts from annoyed BG2 players whoose stronghold was closed leaving all their valuable stuff locked in the cabin... If he choose to roleplay wise make that decision then fine but I'm not sure he did I would guess he wouldn't have gave them swords and ale if he knew the consequences.

aw, heck, I would've bought them the swords (but not the ale, like I did) anyway, and I'm a Paladin! I would've hoped for some adventurer to buy me swords if I were a kid.

on a somewhat related note, I'd like to know what to do in the "Ranger - Protecter of Umar hills quest"... I can't find the other half of the note or anything...

thanks

You can only do the quest if your a ranger or your using the multi stronghold mod. If your using the mod head to Merella's cabin and the quest will start although it may be too late :(
