Having a problem beating this beast. All of the party gets stun or held and then he picks us off one by one. Any suggestions?

Where is it?

Do you have a Cleric that can cast level 4 spells? Fill the slots up with Free Action and cast it on your party members. The Ring of Free Action from Chapter 4 will come in handy here too.

If you can summon up creatures, do so and position them where the Balor will spawn. Let them take the brunt of the Balor's attacks while you attack from a distance. If your Cleric can cast any anti-Demon spells, use them.

Just a little note. The Balor requires +3 enchanted or better weapons to hit.

Do you have any +3 or higher weapons... If yes then use them against the Balor if not then GO get some!!! ^_^ cause that's the only way you can do damage to him... Oh Ya if you have jahira or viconia in you team then you can use some of their offensive spells on him*but i do't suggest it* Just jet your best Tankers and then PUMP them up by useing Bark skin, Bless, chant...e.t.c and then go forve attack the Balor. It will be helpful if you have some summons (fire elemental...) !1st have your elemantals attck the Balor so he focuses on them then take you fighter and attack....I don't know if Protection from evil helps but HEy Try it...^_^ Might take a few tries but in 2-3 tries he should be dead..... Also if you have the Cloak that allows you to produce 5.+5 darts then use that ..it will kill the balor quick and easy..

also...

quite early in the game you should be able to pick up certain short sowrd which grants immunity to hold person. let your best tank dual wielded it (the other hand with a +3 weapon), and the fighter won't be held at all time. If you recruit certain NPC, her own special weapon is immue to stun effect.

1.
You should have Lilarcor, it is a two-handed sword (talking sword), that grants you Immunity to charm and something, it is a preety handsome weapon (+3).

2.
Try to cast dispel magic on your party or call some animals to aid you, meanwhile you can destroy him with a bow, or other weapon, just make shure that he is distracted!

Why does everyone forget that the Balor's claws inflict Fear with every hit?

1) The Balor can only be hit by +3 weapons or better. If you're running low on +3s, go hunt some Drow.
2) He has a couple of Paralytic Gazes, so you'll need some form of immunity to Hold/Stun, or else very good Saves. He uses them up very early on, so you can cast Free Action on 1 Tank and have him soak up the Gazes, then move the rest of your brawlers in.
3) Resist/Remove Fear.
4) The Balor is smart--he'll go after your Summons only if he's got nothing better to do. Summons are still useful for absorbing his Gazes, though.
5) When in doubt, Haste.
