I have made a thief who I imported from BG I later dualed him into a fighter. Darrow has a x4 backstab multiplier. His strength is 17. (Originally 16 but I used some tome) And whenever he does backstab he keeps on doing at most 25 damage except at critical hits. I sense a problem here and it's REALLY bothering me.

i never do much good with backstabbing, and in BG2 i dont use it much, usualy by the time i get there, they have some freaking protection or there suspecting somone invisable, or i have a shiny object on me, i dont know but i dont think ive used it once in the game

but it should do more damage, i forgot who said it, but i think somone said they did well over 200 damage from a backstab. i dont know, sounds unheard of to me but hey what do i know?

Sythe what are you backstabbing with? A 25 for daggers and such with out any other damage modifiers should be considered pretty decent if you ask me.

Pyrenk 08-08-2003 01:53 PM

According to Dundee, it's possible to do 530+ with a certain ToB NPC...

Actually, 25 damage on a backstab isn't all that bad. With Yoshimo when I tried to backstab sometimes I got as low as 16 damage, but then again you may get lucky and get around 50+ damage.

True. For instance, a dagger +1 deals 2-5 damage, quintified (sp?) it is 10-25.

if you really want to max out backstabbing you should use longswords or katanas (preferably some of the magical sort)
it also helps to boost strenght with potions or certain items

Pyrenk 08-08-2003 05:42 PM

No, if you really want to max out backstab use the SotR +6( ToB Item) :D

Shortsword+2 is what I backstab with. And you can backstab with longswords? I tried that once but my thief missed and was revealed but then I again I tried it a few times. I get very jealous that other thieves do like 45 damage or something. If I knew it was going to be that way I woulda became a swashie.
