I'm really new at this game and have been having trouble ever since I got to the Friendly Arm Inn.For one thing I can't put any new spells in my mage book. Then when I agreed to rid the house in Beregost of spiders I didn't get any poison antidote.I've been shut in the end for a while.First there was the wizard/bounty hunter and now thers a horde of goblins. Also I've lost two party members. This is my third try and I be happy of anyhelp you could give in salvaging this game or doing better in my next try.

my first suggestion would be read the manual if uve read it read it again. now that uve played a little bit of the game some of the manual will fit in better. As for the quests you are given, quests do not have to be completed straight away the spider quest is not super important.

The amount of spells you can have in your mage book depends on your mages intelligence ... i think... either that or wisdom (once again the manual will help with this). If your mage has a low intelligence stat then he/she cannot learn as many spells.

For fighting, my favorite tactic is the use of the space bar is pauses the game and allows you to have more control in the battles. Setting one command and watching the battle unfold is fun to watch but it wont win a whole heap of fights especially early on in the game. so pause the action every so often and rethink your battle stratergy

Greetings and salutations! You have to r-click the mage scroll in your inventory. A description will apear. Under the description you will be given an option to write magic or done. If write magic doesn't apear, you have it allready or you are a specialty mage and the spell is from the oposing school of magic. Getting the antidotes is based on your charisma. Your protagonist should have a very high ch. Pausing is your friend. In the options section, you can set it to autopause. I set it for the end of every round, just like in D+D. You can hit the space bar anytime you want to pause the game. Hitting Q quicksaves the game. Good for before a fight (you then can reload if it doesn't work out well), and after as well (you won't have to re-fight if something goes wrong later on). Explore everything! Don't be afraid of going to that manual. Read the old posts, just about everything has been discused before. Enjoy!

Do not forget to set charisma high enough. People will give you certain items if your charisma (or the charisma of the person doing the talking) is high enough. If you say that you haven't gotten the antidotes for the spider quest this might be the reason. The rewards that you'll get for completing a quest also differ based on charisma.

And welcome to the board http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/xyxwave.gif
