OK so I got the completed symbol of Amunator(sp?) and put it in the statue but the door to the dragon is still locked! Wassa matter?!?!? I have full patches and Baldurdash fixpak.

You don't put it in the statue. It unlocks the door, so you need it in your inventory.

What does go in the statue?, you are meant to put something in there right?
