i put in my own portraits into the game, and when i make a character, i can choose them, but the picture doesn't show up? anyone know how to make it work?
|
Are they *.bmp files? Most of the time, if you download or put them in yourself they're jpgs or gifs. Change it with paintshop.

yup, tehy are .bmp i haf jpegs in there as well. none seem to work
|
Also make sure that they're 8-color BMP files. Programs like Microsoft Paint will save them by default as 256-color or something like that.
To make the switch to the right format, open your portraits in MS Photo Editor or MS Paint, choose "Save As", select "Details", and choose the 8-color BMP from the list. |
Aren't medium pics supposed to end with "l" and small ones with "s"?
|
They're supposed to, but I don't think that it's vital. I can use them with whatever ending.

That's strange. I thought that they were required to match...
|
It says that, but in my experience, the portrait thing shows any file with any extension in the \portraits folder. I have seen zip files as well as portraits. Although I think the reason is
A) For organization B) So that you don't end calling the big and little versions of the same portrait the same thing. |
I choose B.
It wouldn't matter that much, as if you have two portraits of the same name right next to each other on the portrait selection screen, it takes about 1 sec. to determine the size of each, and to put them in their slots. |
