Hi,
This is my first time playing computerbased RPG:s and using AD&D rules. I have reached chapter 5 and have a couple of questions. The first two are basic and simple but I want to be sure that I have understood the rules correctly. 1. What exactly does it mean when a spell only affect monster with for example 8 hit dice? I guess it has something to do with how much HP it has, but I don’t understand how much 8 hit dice is. Do you roll aD6 and see (max 48 min 8), it doesn’t seem right, or do they have max? 2. Does MR only affect spells that give damage, or does it also affect spells like Hold, Slow etc? If it only affect damage what happens if a monster has 100% MR, will it not be immune to all types of magic? And if it affects all types will I both get a save vs. Spells and a save with my MR (20%) Sorry if these are stupid questions! I tried to look in the FAQ and search old topics but didn’t find exactly what I’m looking for. Also I think I have problem with bugs or is it supposed to be like this…… - I play a Cavalier and when I began I could use “Draw upon holy magic”, but recently I discovered that the ability is gone. Don’t know if other abilities are lost. (I have rested) - When I played trough chapter 4.... *Spoiler* . . . . . . . . ....I had problems with both the royal guards and the rebels attacking me (except some royal). And when I had killed the king, the prince tanked me and said I was always welcome and so on. Then he turned into an enemy but didn’t attack me. The exact same thing happened to the remaining Shaugin? Including the priestess where you can heal (she attacked and are know forever gone). |
about the complete ad&d rules guide, try checkin on this thing.but i'll try asking some of yer questions (correct me if im wrong):
1.about dices, for example you get a weapon that hits XdY, that means, whenever you try to hit an enemy, your damage to it will be between X to X*Y.it is random chosen by the computer. 2.IIRC MR only protects you from magic damage.and if u encountered a creature that has 100% MR, why be confused?attack it by normal weapon, or u can lower its resistance multiplly. about your cavalier, i think its not a bug, if your cavalier has already met bodhi in someplace in chapter 4.b'cause after you achieve the ability to change into something, all of your special abilities previously that u have will be vanished. oh yeah, welcome to IW. ------------------------- [ 07-31-2003, 10:00 AM: Message edited by: BaRoN NiGhT ] |

For example, if a creature is 4 Hit Dice, and uses a six-sided dice, then its' HP value will range from 4-24 HP. Quote:
Saving Throws only come into play if the spell bypasses the Magic Resistance. MR is always checked first. Quote:
Disclaimer: Assuming the person asking had tried other means of course. ;) Quote:
~ ~ ~ ~ If you recall... Jon Irenicus did something to you in Spellhold. It robs you of your Bhaalspawn Abilities. Quote:
Besides, you get some nice items from both the rebel leader AND the king :D . |
SPOILER
The King is better to kill, iirc. He has the Impaler and Wave Shaft, while the Prince has the Impaler and a worthless item =p |
if you think that you're super evil, then KILL ALL! :D
--------------------- |
Why is that evil? They are the evil ones, so killing them makes you good. Kill them in the name of justice!

Why is the "but" there? You get the Impaler from whichever dies first.
The throwing version of the Impaler is way too cheesy for my tastes. |

No it is not cheesy. It is ridicilously over-powered. :( |
