This is the first time I'm taking on Faldorn at the Druid Grove with someone other than Jaheira or Cernd. I can (eventually) bust up her human form without problems. But that panther! Its THAC0 and AC have to be >10, and it seems to have at least 2 attacks per round!

My kensai/druid is levels 10/8, has 15/17/10/10/19/18 for stats, a natural AC of 6 (ouch!), more than 1 attack per round, 2 draw upon kai per day, and knows druid spells up to level 5. My game plan was Righteous Magic, Insect Plague, Miscast Magic, Flame Blade/Shillegah, Barkskin, Iron Skins, and Sanctuary to heal/bless/chant when Faldorn got to Near Death.

I don't want to take the easy way out and ask Cernd to do it for me, and I don't want to resort to cheesy tactics. Melia is gonna kick Faldorn's Shadow Druid kiester with good druid powers. :D Should I just go clear the de'Arnise Keep for some more experience, and come back to challenge Faldorn later? Or is it possible to clean up now?

If you're a low level, try summoning animals after animals to cover her up or let them do damage while you run...

Oh, and Summon Nymph is actually a VERY nice spell here - Hold person. :D

But then, levelling up a bit doesn't hurt either. More spells, more power etc...

Okay, summoning would be quite cheesy. Try spells like insect plague, Iron Skin, Flame Blade (the quarterstaff isn't anything flash), and Entangle (High risk).

Good luck!

I always chug a few potions or cast a couple spells before talking to her if I'm low level. Then you go in a little faster or stronger or however buffed up you want. I would then immediately cast insect plague to keep her from casting spells and then cast a summons to help me fight her. D*ranged is right-the Nymphs are the best help.

The summons can't damage her--only the character can. (Explains why she doesn't summon anything herself.) I tried using a couple summons as blocks, but she's got reach. Her saves are too low for hold or charm. Can you believe that I tried to charm her, intending to get her to use all her spells on one of my summons? And the nymph is a 6th-level spell, and I only have 5th level ones. And thanks to her saves, I'm the only one suffering from Entangle. Thanks for the help, though.

SpongeBob: What potions do you chug? I found Invulnerability to be useless, as she only casts defensive spells (so I've seen), Magic Blocking/Shielding do diddly for the same reason, stat raising potions are useless...the only one I can think of that would be useful in this situation is Heroism.

Call Nature's Ally is a 4th level spell, not 6th. So if you can cast 5th level, you can.
Strange, because when I summon the Nymph and she casts Hold Person, she was paralysed, helpless as me and summons rip her to shreds. Do that before she turns into the big bad panther. Oh, and Doom helps, too.
Mine's a PC version of BG2. What about you?

Summons can and will hurt Faldorn. On one of those rare occasions where I used Jaheira in my party( all-female party), I conjured some Mountain Bears. While Faldorn was screaming and being gang-mauled by four Mountain Bears, Jaheira was sipping some herbal tea and chewing mint on the other side of the pit.

As for tactics... there is a very simple one, if... cheesy.

Doom + Hold Monster

What? What is it that you say? I must be smoking crack to suggest that a Druid can cast Hold Monster?

Call Woodland Being

Each Nymph has 2 Hold Person and 1 Hold Monster, in addition to several charm spells, Mass Healing x1, touch-based damage spells, etc... ...

Maybe your summons were hitting her while her ironskins were up, because they can definately hurt her. Swallow a potion of speed to get an extra attack and run away from her if you get your summons working. ;)

I charmed her with charm person.

Used up all of her spells (she DOES have summoning spells :D ) then set them on her.

Fun 'fight'

ok, here are some useful potions you could try:

Potion of Defense(AC 0), Potion of strenght(18 strenght), Oil of Speed, Potion of Fortitude, Potion of Absorption and perhaps Potion of Agility. these should give you ac(absorption gives extra ac against blunt weapons, which i believe a quarterstaff and the panther paw are), fortitude will give extra hp so you can take a little more beating. well, good luck anyways!
