If I create a fighter then what would I need wisdom, intelligence, or charisma for?

Sir Exxon 06-22-2003 02:30 PM

Close to nothing.
Wisdom affects some dialogue options. Intelligence affects your Lore. Charisma affects how much discount you get at stores.
Charisma is really the only one you should spend a few extra points on, as low prices can be quite useful. ;)

Roleplaying purposes. Distribute the attributes the way you think your character is. So if you think he's dumb screw intelligence and wisdom but if you want to create a wise knight I would still take some points though you won't need them (powergamingwise that is)

Charisma affects the way people look at you and therefore some dialogue options and the prices in stores. However there are magical means (items and spells) in the game to improve char and you can still make a highly charismatic NPC your party leader.

you can roll an infanite amount of times just go till u get good on all

Well you don`t need to worry ybout your Charisma becuase there is a certain Ring in he game wich sets it to 18. For Wisdom there are certain potions.

CHA modifies barterprices.
INT at 12(?)+ lets you use scrolls such as Greater Restoration.
WIS does nothing for you: NO saving throw improvements, thats 3rdD&D.

Alright so this is how I have my human fighter
Strength: 18
Dexterity: 18
Constitution: 18
Intelligence: 11
Wisdom: 8
Charisma: 16
I am actually going to play the first Baldur's Gate but I want my character to be made for Shadows of Amn for when I import to the second BG.
Would those stats be good for a fighter?

Those stats seem fine. I'd maybe lower the charisma to 14 and pump up wisdom to 10. I don't like having any stat below 10 for roleplaying reasons but maybe that's just me .

Well I'm not the kind of the player that roleplays, I like every advantage I can possibly get.

If he's going to be playing through BG1, it makes sense to have a somewhat low WIS. I've got an Archer now that started out with a natural 18 WIS, and after *cough, cough*, I had an Archer with 17 DEX, 15 CON and 21 Wisdom running around Amn. He looked kinda lopsided.
