Go to Multiplayer options and then select what you want. You can choose create gamer or join game.

BG2 isnt the greatest of multiplayer games, and it lacks a server-finder. You can use gamespy, but the few servers Ive joined on that were full of hackers and PKers. Which leaves us with doing it the hard way.

First thing you need is the IP address of the host computer. Assuming a standard connection, go into start->run->command. Type "ipconfig". Somewhere in there will be a line giving your Ip address. If theres more than one such line, the one you want isnt in the 192.169.x.x range, nor the 10.x.x.x range. If you dont have any addresses that arent in those two ranges, you have a LAN with router and things get complicated.

Now start BG2 on the host and start a multiplayer game.

Start Bg2 on the other machines and join multiplayer game over TCP/IP. When it asks for a server address, give it the IP of the host. Barring inconvinently placed routers and firewalls, the client should find the host and you should be able to join the game.

Yes but as Andrewas alredy mentioned on GameSpy there are LOTS of hackers lurking out there.

anny one willing to host?

you can put a firewall on ...

Raistlin Majere 06-01-2003 06:13 AM

i believe that a firewall may cause some problems when playing online. the best way to play is probably by doing what andrewas just said.

andrewas 06-01-2003 06:25 AM

Firewall will cause problems if its not setup right. Software ones tend to sort themselves out, just run a host on each machine to give it a hint, then set the game up properly.

Hardware firewalls, you need to handle the port numbers by hand, so dig out your manuals and readmes.

Me, Ill stick to NWN multiplayer, its easier.

Is the NWN multiplayer any good? I have NWN and tried mp, but it didnt really impress me too much.

Only like the best multiplayer game ever. IMO, it's the only reason to get the game, next to the Aurora Toolset.
