i've just imported my solo F/M/T from BG1 and had a play with Irenicus' dungeon
so far all i've done is kill a few baddies disarmed a couple of traps and read a random treasure scroll (level 6 mind ) and i've already gone up a level in two classes! they just keep rolling in . . . i'm not sure what to do now - i've only played Ch2 of SoA before now and am thinking it would probably be a mistake to solo the rest of it the first time (from an interaction point of view rather than difficulty) but the guy's developing a certain momentum ;) what do you think? |
If you want a party then you don't need a F/M/T, He can do all by himself !
My suggestion is to to play solo with this guy. Better idea is to make a char (whatever), play with a party of 6, go through the game (a couple of times ;) ) and then play your F/M/T solo. |
You could take Viconia or Aerie along as a cleric and for the romance.
Never "doubled" the games I think |
"From an interaction point of view" I would go with a small party of people you really like, or who are plot critical. Valygar for the Mage stronghold quest, Jaheira for the romance or Imoen for the general plot, to name a few examples.

thanks for that - i guess i knew the answer really - back to BG1 to finish my druid PC party i guess
i don't think i could cope with 6 people though without being lured back to the solo path |

Yeah taking a party of six can be cumbersome, but instead of taking six I find a party of three works great. say your character and a cleric or a mage as a permanent companion and leave a spot for a revolving door of other companions as needed.
Does anyone else prefer a party of 3 to solo / six ? |
I would think it extremely difficult to run a solo F/M/T through SOA.
You could handle most situations, but would be gimped for higher level encounters... Take a dragon, for instance. You'd have a lower THACO than a similarly XP'd fighter, so melee would be extremely difficult. Your spell list would be extremely limited as well... After playing NWN and soloing a lot, I still find I like a good, full party. The interaction is priceless, and you are much better prepared for any situation that crops up. |
i reckon (and read ;) ) that this is one of the easier solos - i haven't done much yet but i seem to have a lot of slack
i think one of the screen loading tips sums it up - "changing tactics can make an impossible battle simple . . . " - you get a lot of tactics [ 06-04-2003, 06:41 AM: Message edited by: Armen ] |
Don't believe loading tips - it says the 'No one single character can beat all the game' or something like that. Numerous soloists can confirm that its not true
