Hi all!

I'm starting a new party tonight and I'm planning on an envil bunch...
Plans include lady DeVir and good sir Korgan =)
As I see it that leaves me to take the thief position myself as I loathe Yoshi.
I first thought of going as assassin as that would no doubt catch Devirs fancy but the assassin get so little "thiefpoints" to distribute...
My questions are thus...what kind of thief would be best in the party, both powerwise and rpg-wise....and why?
Also...would such a party be able to make it through ToB?
And one more thing...does Vicky realy leave the party at one point??
Many questions =)
Thanks!

Any Thief class will do, it depends on what you´re after:

Swashbuckler: Fighter/Thief-like character, can´t backstab
Assassin: Exactly what it sound like. Good at backstabbing.
Bounty Hunter: If you love those trap.

Personally I would go for any of the thief kits dualled to either a Fighter or a Mage as a single class Thief isn´t that useful in ToB. After a while you have enough in thief skills so additional skillpoint is almost pointless, this is where you should dual-class. A Fighter/Thief make an excellent backstabber and A Thief/Mage, well they can do what the Thief can do plus spellcasting.
A Kensai dualled to Thief is also good as well as a multclass variation of any of the above.

If you wanna play evil, consider taking Edwin with you. The only thing your little team is missing is a Mage.

Edit: Kensai/Thief can only be dual-class not multi-class.

What about a Fighter/Thief?

BTW, can you use fighter HLA's in conjunction with backstab (only applicable if you own ToB)?

Another good option is not to choose a kit, get a straight thief and then dual them early. The straight theif can still backstab, and gets all the skill points, you can start out with several skills already at 90-100 if you want.

You could take the hidden Artemis Entreri for a thief. He's a kickass assasin, however he may be a little overpowered.
Just CLUAConsole him in (code is "Artemis" IIRC)and then Ctrl-Q him.
Has his own sound samples and even party banter!

I never get to much into the kits I perfer a straight theif.

I concur.
The kits deliver powerful chars, but they are not very thief-like as they lack either in thiefpoints or essential abilities like backstab. From the kits I would prefer Assasin (backstabbing is sooo cool) over any other. You may want to dual your thief later as the developement is not aso powerful with levels as in other classes.

SPOILER, even if half-hearted: (highlight)
...
Re Viconia - I know she has a serious "crisis" (you can't miss it) - don't fully recall if she leaves you altogether (I think she is more like 'incapacitated'), but even if she did take off, I'm SURE it wasn't for very long - and BTW this 'crisis' has nothing to do with Bodhi either

they get plenty enough, as long as you dont waste points by putting more than a 100 in open locks/find traps/detect illusions(i recall reading a thread which discussed this lately).
