Ummm yeah... For those who havent played Baldurs gate 2, dont worry noone will ruin the experience for u. I just wanted peoples opinion, on which game they liked better.
I personally like BG1 (no surprise there since im always here helping out), i like it cause the learning curve is alot easier... NO not the game but the Character creation. BG2 just drowns you in classes and stats and basically leaves a beginner really pressured. BG2 is a much easier game once the character has been made, no debates here i hope. Playing as a mage in BG2 is actually not hard at all in the begining, which is sooo totally different to BG1... Sorry i write too much, ill get right back on track... BG1- I love it, challenging some times really difficult, damn those direwolves, hardest enemy ive every faced, at the level u first see them of course. Weapons and items do not become too godly, and Npcs are so well created. BG2- I like it, hardly challenging though, oh what another dragon? ill just send in my theif to finish him off. I really do like the complexity of it, there are just so many different ways of doing things, i get brain storms while in the toilet so often, i sometimes forget to do what i was there to do in the first place...sorry too much detail. SOOOOOO now its your turn guys!!! |
Well I have played both and loved them. But if you have played the first BG I feel it sets you up for the second one. I did not find it to hard to get use to the stats and class because I had the option to play a simple thief which worked out fine for me. But in BG II they could have cut out a few of the items. I found some do make you a little to strong. But on the other hand your Charcter did get to some high levels and was bound to come accross some kick a$$ items. One does not beat a dragon and get a +1 dagger out of it. ok enough info.

I completly agree, for some reason bg1 feels more like an adventure too.

BG I was great because you were always afraid a band of roving kobolds might kill your party. That's certainly not a worry in BG II http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
The features of BG II make it superior. The mapping functions(notes) and quest journals, first used in Planescape Torment, make the record keeping in this game simple. With BG I was always taking and searching through written notes, which was annoying. As far as game play, they are so different. Playing a lower level character is completely different from the super high levels of ToB. Leveling up was more exciting in BG because it happened so infrequently. In BG II, it seems that someone is always leveling up. ------------------ An elevator smells different to a dwarf. http://www.usflag.org/animate/flagwave1.gif http://www.dottisweightlosszone.com/...allbanner2.gif |
