Okay... here goes...

Wield the Defender of Easthaven in the off-hand. Shapeshift to Rat using the Cloak of the Sewers. 110% physical resistance right there.

Cast Protection from the Elements, and put on the Helmet of Defense. 95% Elemental resistance. Okay, so it isn't perfect.

Put on the Cloak of Mirroring, the Boots of Speed, and the Belt of Intertial Barrier. Cast Magic Resistance from a level 20 Cleric if it'll raise your Magic Resistance. Cast Protection from Magical Energy. Then, Improved Haste.

That should make you nearly invincible. Of course, there are some minor details (like Vampires, and Imprisonment), but this should suffice to give you a speedy tank that's near invincible for most of the game. You need, however, somebody to wield the DoE, and the Helmet of Defence.

throw on the Dragon Helm instead of the Helm of Defense. itll add 25% to all elemental resistances, thus youll have 100% elemental resistance.

Achieving a temporary state of (near) invulnerability in BG2 is pathetically easy. The methods are varied - but the purpose stays the same. Kodus on the rat, though - it's quite non-trivial.

Now, permanent (near) invulnerability... that's SOMETHING. ;) The Wizard/Slayer/Thief late dual can get quite close.

IIRC, it sets, rather than adds.

Yep - indeed, the Dragon's Helm sets resistances instead of stacking them with the character's current ones.

Erm... Why would you even need permanent invulnerability? Even the majority of Ascension can be done before 20 rounds are over.

Why would you need invincibility at all? The game is easy enough as it is.

The challenge, however, is to slove the puzzle - and build your ultimate character of Immunity to Everything. It's fun, as you can attest.

Okay. You've got me there. But when you have some mods installed (the Improved Battles mod is in beta- it should come out a couple of weeks- and it features high level characters), immunity when you're walking through the streets of Amn becomes very important.

Alson, I have read your spell reference. Excellent work!

I would like to note what I think is a minor correction. You say level 1 priest spell "Armor of Faith" sets resistance. I can confirm you that with my level 18 stalker/cleric equipped with the belt of inertial barrier I get 70% resistance to magical damage.

50% come from the belt, 5*4=20% come from armor of faith after casting it.

(I have tactics and baldurdash)

<span style="color: lightblue">Immunity to Everything... how about...

Class: Sorcerer or Mage.
Equipment: Robe of Vecna, Amullette of Power, Boots of Grounding, Ring of Gaxx, Ring of Free Action, any Ioun stone you care to name, Staff of the Magi, Belt of Inertial Barrier, any cloak you can wear.
Cast: Project Image + Improved Alacrity, Fireshield: Red, Fireshield: Blue, Pro-Acid (green), Pro-Normal Weapons & Pro-Magic Weapons through a trigger, Spell Immunity: Enchantment, Pro-Energy.

Physical Damage: you have immunity to all weapons of any enchantment... nothing can hit you, you're not gonna take too much damage.
Fire: FS: Red + Pro-Energy = 125% Resistance.
Cold: FS: Blue + Pro-Energy = 125% Resistance.
Electricity: BoG + Pro-Energy = 125% Resistance.
Magic: Vecna + Power + Gaxx + Pro-Energy = 100% Resistance.
Magic Damage: BoIB + Pro-Energy = 120% Resistance.
Acid: Pro-Acid + Pro-Energy = 125% Resistance.
Poison: Gaxx.
Charm/Domination: Spell Immunity.
Hold, Web, etc: Ring of Free Action.

Invulnerability, and it doesn't matter what the Tears of Bhaal give you. :D
