It seems that the magic resistance can save you against some magical attacks like PWS, PWK, etc. what are with no saving throw.
Any suggestions how to achieve sorcerer or any other class with high magic resistance (90 forexample) - artifacts to use ?

Err.... Pallys can wield The Holy Avenger to get a 50% extra MR. Monks and WS can get additional MR as they level up, altho Monks get around 63 MR on level 20(In Soa I mean) the highest any class can get without using items. The items below can provide some MR, AOP, Holy Avenger, Mana Bow, an amulet(forgot name), SOTM?, and many more, I think there will be someone kind enough to provide those infos.

Wizard Slayers also gain magic resistance with levels (I think it's 2% per level, but you better check that). But they can't use magical items to improve their mr.

<span style="color: lightblue">For a Mage/Sorcerer:
Robe of Vecna: 10%
+ Amulette of Power: 15%
+ Ring of Gaxx: 25%
+ Protection from Energy (lvl 8 spell): 100% Magic Resistance.

Jon Irenicus, Carsomyr *sets* Magic Resistance to 50%; and the old trick of put everything else on afterwards won't work because it sets it again at each swing.

Oh well, 50% is good enough for me!

Hm Gaxx is ok (he can be beaten with PfE), but the other two things - it seems that I missed them. Where can I find them ? PfE is ok, but it can be removed or the time is over, etc. I need info on permanent magic resistance given by items

Robe Of Vecna can be bought from bonus merchant in the Adventurer's Mart (Deirde's her name IIRC). Amulet Of Power is given to you by Aran (the ShadowMaster.. forgot his second name :( )
when you pay Gaelan Bayle, or can be taken from Aran's dead body if you side with Bodhi.

And why do you need MR? It can be lowered BTW.

A few points:

</font>
 • The amulet of 10% magic resistance can be used instead of the Amulet of Power to get a 5% boost</font>
 • The Mana Bow grants +20% resistance to magic damage, not magic (only a handful of arcane spells actually deal Magical Damage)</font>
 • Wizard Slayers only get +1% MR per level in SoA</font>
 • The Staff of the Magi does not grant any magic resistance</font>

Correction. Protection from Energy protects 75% from magical "damage" not general Magic Resistance as do Ring of Gaxx and other items.

Why do you guys strive for MR? It can be easily lowered. Some monsters in the game (OK, in the later stages) cast Lower Resistance on you. The only great thing to go after (for a sorc) is Magic Damage Resistance, but still only few spells deal Magic damage, and anywayz all them can be countered with SI.

As a sorc, you would want to kill anything hostile, even not letting them reach you, not to defend yourself from anyone.

The best defence is offence!

ADD]Cloack of Displacement adds some magic damage resistance (and a great cloack a non-cheesing sorc would wear). BTW, it makes your char look great
