NO, it is NOT worth dualling Imoen. The experience Cap is 89000 and Imoen would need to reach lvl 7 in her new class before being able to use her thief skills again - which is impossible. And yes, I think good characters can become necromancers too.

To clarify, the exp. cap is 89,000 points in straight Baldur's Gate 1. If you have the Sword Coast expansion, it gets raised to some number like 121,000, but I forget just how high. And if you're whiny like me, you use an Exp. cap remover that either raises the cap to the ToSC level without buying ToSC, or gets rid of the cap entirely.

The TOTSC exp cap is 161,000...

I would dual her, except for one thing, while she's leveling up, you have to pick another thief. None of the others are as good as Imoen because first of all, you've had imoen from the beginning and were able to allocate skill points however you wish (i.e. all traps and locks for me). Other than that, it's not a bad idea, though I think you're supposed to dual her at 6, but I'm not sure. It would be tough until she catches up but you'll have an extra full mage in the end so it's your call...

You dont really have to dual class imoen, coz she'll lose all of her thieving skills until you catch up to the level you got her at when she was just a thief, and i use her alot in all my dungeons, so i would say leave her as she is, and yeah good characters can necromancers, but you cant dual class someone to a specialist mage i think

SixOfSpades 10-02-2001 11:33 PM

Yes, you can Dual to a Specalist Mage: Imoen can become (among other things) a Conjurer and an Illusionist, which are 2 of the 3 best Specialties there are. And as for being without a Thief, what about Coran? Or Alora, if you're that far? And you also have a great degree of control over Montaron's skills, since you meet him right when you start, and Shar-Teel's.

One thing you can do is train Imoen in (for instance) Stealth and Traps, then go do all of the places that have Traps before you Dual-Class her.

In Durlags Tower you need really good thief. But it could be taken also using potions http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif So if you want - dual her.

StarVid 10-03-2001 09:03 AM

that's a lot of potions though...I don't like having to depend on them, I'd rather have a thief that's competent without them. That's why I never dual imoen. At the cap, she'll have like 100 in both locks and traps...
