If I understand correctly the spell description:

it should stop (absorb) spells which levels are equal (or lower) to half of the level of the priest.

So - if my cleric is level 18, that means that Shield of Archons could stop ONE imprisonment (level 9) ?

I'm trying to beat Kangaxx without THE SCROLL - but it doesn't look promising.
And I'm not using any summons at all - solo Cleric/Ranger.

Shield of the Archon works like Spell Deflection IIRC. The number of spell levels it will absorb before disappering is equal to half your cleric level. So a Shield of the Archon cast by a lvl 20 cleric will absorb 10 Magic Missiles or 3 Flame Arrows + 1 other spell (could be Imprisonment).

Since improved Kangaxx uses 5 or 6 of them in a Time Stop that would mean that I would have to be at least level 6*2*9 = 108 level cleric to stop them ? ;)

At lvl 20 you can stop a grand total of 2 Imprisonments.

It is simply not the way to go vs Kangaxx ;) I frankly don't know what a solo R/C could do without resorting to the PfM scroll.

I'm tempted to say Pro-Undead scrolls... but I have a feeling i'm missing something.

Improved Kangaxx loves to use Remove Magic if he doesn't "see" anything. Only PfM works. So I used the scroll for Kangaxx (is this cheese ?) and also for the other nasty lich in Docks. Interesting thing happened - you are not immune to Dragon fear even with PfM scroll. I actually died the first time because of the MMM. The second time I used Potion of Invulnerability and still got "frightened" once - my saving throws (spells) were -3 ! ;)

PfU does work. Sure Kangaxx will try to remove them as quickly as he can, but he still can't cast RM more than once per round. Meaning you'll get about 3 seconds per scroll. Get 20+ scrolls and it might actually be possible :D

PfM is definitely cheese, but really, it's the only weapon you have. Personally, I wouldn't give a rats ass whether it's cheese or not in your situation [img]tongue.gif[/img]

20 rounds?! Is there a new "be-fair-to-your-enemies" policy i'm not aware of? [img]tongue.gif[/img] If it takes you 20 rounds to beat him, you're doing something wrong. ;)

Now that you mention it, you do get 20 rounds, but what I forgot is that it is Kangaxx, not you, who'll have 3 free seconds to do whatever he wants with you, until you can cast another PfU.

3 secs is far more than he needs to Imprison you so, stick with the PfM scroll ;)
