What, exactly, happened? We need some more specifics, like what error do you get, or was there maybe something you did yourself that damaged the game. ;)

Well, it happened a couple of months ago. It is kinda hard to remember, but my computer lost the registary key I thing, telling it that the game is installed. But I can't play. Everytime I try to uninstall, it doesnt work. I tell the computer to uninstall, I look later, and it is still there. But the computer thinks the game isn't installed. That is why I can't play or uninstall it, I just need an idea how to fix it. I been playing bg1, but it isn't the same since I played bg2.

i had a similiar problem when i tried to get my Throne of Bhaal version to work. luckily i had an Unistaller program which found the files and unistalled them automatically. a theorie on how you could possibly uninstall it:

you could propably manually take it out of the registry and then manually destroy the remaining files. that way you could try installing it again. to take it out of the registry pick the "Run" option from the start menu and type in regedit. this will take you to the registry editor so you can get rid of the bg2 key. then go to the file to where you had installed it and manually "recycle" the files and then install again.

you might wanna wait for some expert to approve of this method, since its only a theorie in how it could be done.

Well, my brother is really good on computers, I just ask him to do it, I am in college right now, in a month school will be other and my brother can look at my computer. I just have to wait for another month.

perhaps its best that way. at least youll have someone else to blame if youre computer screws up.

Yeah, lol. But he is really good, he builds computers from scratch; his major is computers. I can blame him if he messes up my puter though

Yeah, i belive that he might be good with computers, even though building computers from scratch doesnt have much to do with installing or uninstalling games . So many people today know their computers insideout that it makes us normal people feel rather dumb. I have a friend who is just about a computer himself, he works as a beta tester and even does patch fixes and stuff like that and he is only 15! sheesh, he has a bright future in the computer business.

If youve lost all the registry keys, you can safely remove the files. Make a copy of the save game folder before you do it.

Then, just re-install and your sorted.

You might even be able to get away with just installing the game over the top of the old installation.

If you have only lost part of the registry keys, then something weird has happened. But its fixable, just go into regedit and *carefuly* remove all keys related to baldurs gate and interplay.
