I'm wondering, I've started a game as a female Gnome plain Illusionist and in the main screen (not the inventory screen) she kinda looks strange in that she looks remarkably similar to Jan Jansen...complete with a hearty beard and bald head...
Is this normal or some kind of comic bug in my game?
Everything else is normal in the game, but I'm not sure if I can stand having a bald girl as my main character.
Have any of you out there seen this before?
Anything you post in response to this is appreciated, yes even strange stories about the bald bearded lady you once saw at a circus freak show, all responses are acceptable
(Please note that I have nothing against bald girls in real life and, though I wish they had hair, think that they are probably very nice peolple)

I don't think it's so much a glitch as a little miss up. I've been thinking about other things before and have clicked the male symbol of the character sex instead of female, and went ahead and created the rest of the character. You might've did the same, if not then you got one unique gnome on your hands :D

Female Gnomes do have beards, but aren't always bald. It's just a designer's choice, I guess.

Nope. Woe betide your gnome or dwarven female character, because the paper doll inventory screen will show their gender as female, but their character on the map will be male. (BG1 shows both as male. Regardless, it's still weird to see the character you know you rolled as a female walking about Athkatla complete with mustache and codpiece.)

There's a very funny conversation you can have with a Dwarf in IWD about this very topic. (Well, it's with respect to Dwarves, but Gnomes are close enough.) She's in the inn where the party starts off. Check it out if you have IWD.

*Remembers a line from the D&D Movie*

"The problem with elves is that they ain't got no meat on their bones, what you need a nice 250 lb. dwarf with a beard you really can hang onto!"

Another reason why dwarven and gnomish women have facial hair I guess

LOL!!
I still remember that conversation (just vaguely :D ) back when I had IWD!!!
Ahh, the nostalgia...

Gnomish female illusionists? Looked JUST like males in BG1...but I sorta expected it to be different in BG2...never tried female gnome, never will now. Can't stand their paper doll, and this made it worse...

Someone should make a paperdoll-change mod for those gnomes, the same for the female dwarfs among the Fearun.

Anybody willing to do this...?

Nothing's wrong with the paper doll--that is, the paper doll's the correct gender. It's the onscreen avatar that's cross-dressing.

This shows again how much I dislike small races
