My sorcerer is with Int=12. What are the penalties ?
|
None whatsoever. It will not affect your spellcasting in the least!

Charisma is actually the main prime request for a Sorcerer in AD&D, though this also does not effect your Sorcerer spellcasting abilitie's whatsoever in BG II.
The Sorcerer does not have a prime request in stats, not Intel, Wis, Con ect. Making the Sorcerer even more cheesyer, because now they can put all the points that a wizard puts in Intel in something like Str or Con. However, Wisdom is important for the Sorcerer if you are going to use the limited wish and wish spells, because wish based spells use Wisdom to determine the final outcome of the spell. [ 04-08-2003, 10:20 AM: Message edited by: Annatar ] |

I thought that sourcerers were like wizards in BGII and nneded a high intellegence.
I suppose that was why mine were bad: not a high enough wisdom/charisma |
No, they don't need high wis or cha either in BG2. Wisdom is useful in that it affects your saving throws somewhat at higher levels, and it gets you better options for the spells Wish and Limited Wish. That is all. Intelligence isn't important either, and with a mage's 1d4 hitpoints per level high constitution won't be that much use either. Meaning that you could have higher strength (and with a mage's THACO, and access to the knock spell, that just means you can carry more weight), and higher dexterity for that -4 AC bonus.
Not a single character class, least of all the sorceror, is 'bad' when he/she has low ability scores, or 'good' if he/she doesn't. Sure, one has some minor advantages over the other, but that's all it is. If a character is 'bad', that just means it doesn't suit your playing style, or you accidentally picked the 'wrong' quests to do first. If a character is 'good', that means you've learned to use the character in a way that works. Often, characters with lower scores (and therefore a handicap in some ways) are more enjoyable to play. And in any case, there are plenty of items to increase a character's scores, although that applies more to strength and less to Int and Wis. |
