Does anybody know of anyway to get the dimension door spell in baldurs gate 2, from a roleplaying perspective its irritating for my mage that just about every wizard he comes across (even his low level apprentices for crying out loud) has the ability to cast this spell while he has to walk everywhere. Also on the subject of patches and mods, i know where i can get them but i have no idea how to install them as i am completely computer illiterate. If anyone could explain this to me in laymans terms i would be very garateful.

You cant get the Dimension Door spell. It was removed from the game since its unbalancing and lets the player break scripts. (If you teleport past a trigger for example). But you could search for and use ShadowKeeper to give it to your mage.

The official patch you just download and run. Simple enough. The baldurdash fixpack you download and extract. To extract you will need something like winzip. Just make sure all the files end up in the override folder and youll be fine.

The mods can be a pain. They come in to general types. The older one, the non-weiDU mod, is a pain to work. You can have only one of these, and it has to go on before any other mod but after the official patch and baldurdash. Usualy you just extract them to the baldurs gate 2 folder and pray. But they all have readmes included, so read that first.

The newer type, the weiDU mod, is much easier. Extract it to your Bg2 folder, then find its setup program. AS long as you install weiDU mods lastm you cant go wrong. (Except you can, in which case youll see characters using the wrong dialogue strings, in that case uninstall and try again).

I think the only character they gave Dimension Door to is Solaufein, for the obvious reasons that Andrewas has mentioned.

<font color=white> If you have Solaufein installed, then it should be possible to via SK give yourself the innate ability to Dimension Door.

Becauce Sola uses it, he is an NPC so you could get it to with the use of SK (I'm trying that now, because my godlike Kensai-->Mage doens't wanna walk, come on he says ''I have the blood of a deity streaming through my veins, my powers should have no limits.... I want to feel the powers that I deserve!

Blablabla... he's a little arrogant because he kicked Imp. Bodhi's ass on Insane just an hour ago without a reload... never mind him

Can anybody clarify if Queor Tilaix can have this abilty? </font>

If you have either Sola or Ascension installed, you can give your character the dim door ability. Either use SK and copy it from Sola or make yourself a script that says something like this:

IF
HotKey(K)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
AddSpecialAbility("dimdoor")
END

... then compile the script to foo.bs, put it in your scripts directory, give it to a char in the game, turn on ai, select that char, and press 'k'.

It's much easier just to turn on cheat mode and press Ctrl-J, though.

What I found really funny is that Solaufein taught someone in my party tu use Dimension Door. It was my evil party. ;)

You can download the Bonus Merchants .zip file from the Forum Guidelines And FAQ sticky thread. You will need WinZip to unzip the files. Simply unzip the files into the override folder which should be located at the following,

<font color="white">C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\override</font>
