I know this should probably be in ToB but...
Why do you people sy it is so good?I doesn`t heal you it just adds HP`s.So example:
Xen has 140/160 HP˙s
He is hit and now he has 140/164 HP`s

When I am hit,I am hit.Nothing else...

So,where is the good part in this?

Maybe yours is bugged or something. Since it cast Laloch's Minor drain you do get hps added, or at least I did. Foebane and Blackrazor together on my Barbarian has been the best dual wield combo I've used so far, IMHO. Yes, better than FoA and CromF, CF and Sanchu and others. But like I said that's just my preference.

Probably is a bug. Foebane is the best weapon for killing planar creatures, and you get it in Watcher's Keep (I think) so it gives you an advantage over Demogorgon.

Make sure that you have the latest patch. Foebane will add to your current and max HP.

Why is Foebane +5 so amazing? Multiple attacks. If you have, say, 8 attacks per round (not unlikely with Imp Haste) you will gain 32 hitpoints per round. This is *much* faster than anything else in the game (even the oft-attacked Sanchuudoku). It is not uncommon to end up with 500+ HP after a big brawl with Foebane.

Exactly. Comments...

I'm not 100% sure about this... but doesn't Laroch's Minor Drain sucks 1D4 HP? This would make things quite different - first and obviously, it would mean that with 8 ApR you will gain 20 hitpoints. Second (and quite non-trivial), this would mean that Foebane loses to Blackrazor in the "Best Regenerating Attack" competition - as Blackrazor heals you by 3 hitpoints per hit (20 * 15%) and another 1 hitpoint per 5 seconds.

Loved your "Foebane Commentary" thread in Usenet, by the way.

Nah, it actually sucks 4 HP every time. No dice rolled. ;)

Yep, I agree - I just checked in one of my saves from TOB. Always 4 hp.

Assassin 03-31-2003 03:07 PM

Actually, if you have 8 attacks per round, then, because you're dual-wielding, you'll gain 24 HP per second. Don't forget about that off-hand weapon.

weimer 03-31-2003 03:18 PM

We weren't dual-wielding ... but even if we were, it's important to remember that BG2 does not actually alternate attacks.

If you have 4 attacks per round and you are dual-wielding, 3 will be with the primary weapon and the fourth will be with the off-hand.

Assassin 04-01-2003 10:57 AM

Okay... for 8 attacks per round, without the Grand Mastery patch, I would say that it's impossible to get that using Foebane without dual-wielding, even with Improved Haste. It's possible to get 10 using the Whirlwind attacks, however.

8/2= 4 attacks non-Improved Hasted. 1/2 (level 7 Fighter) + 1/2 (level 13 Fighter) + 1 (standard) + 1/2 (Specialization) = 2 1/2, without Dual-wielding.

Yes, I know that. You have 4 attacks non-Improved Hasted, which means that 3 of them are with Foebane. Since Improved Haste doubles the attack number, you get 6 with Foebane, and 2 with the off-hand weapon. 6 x 4 (the number of hit points drained) = 24 hit points drained per round.
