For a Cavalier:

Cloak of Mirroring or Cloak of Balduran ?

Does Cloak of Cheese protect from area effect spells ? (ADHW, Ice Storm, Fireball, ...)

<font color=white> No, the Cloak of Mirroring does not reflect area of effect spells (so it will not protect you from them), though the Cloak of Balduran give's you 25% MR.

It's up to you wich one you want... if you don't have any other MR upgrading items, then the 25% will only make a slight difference, the Cloak of Mirroring does make a great difference when fighting wizards/liches/ect.

The Cloak of Mirroring deflects all offensive spells away (spells that cause any damage) but it won't help you against other spells that effect stats such as hold person, charm, stun, and so forth.

It's not really important. Carry them both around and equip the most suitable one for the battle ahead.

I'm not worried about those. ADHW and Fireballs and so - but isn't Unholy Blight area effect spell ?

SixOfSpades 03-23-2003 08:19 PM

The Unholy Blight should not have been stopped by the Cloak of Cheese, as it isn't supposed to protect you from Area-Of-Effect spells, or Touch-range spells. It may have been blocked by your Magic Resistance instead.

Strange as it may seem... the Cloak of Mirroring negates AoE offensive spells as well.

I can confirm this.

Not that it's necessary.

Nope - it said Spell Ineffective and not Magic Resistance.

I think I'll keep it for a while and see what happens in various situations.

It is my first game where I went for spellhold as soon as I could.
So now I can do all the quests with the Cheese Cloak. :D
