I once heard that anything that goes in the head slot in your inventory protects against critical hits, even if it doesn't say so in the description of the item. So, theoretically things like Ioun stones would do this? Can anyone tell me, is this rumor true?

Yes.

That helm you have to find all the pieces for is good for protecting a Mage or a Thief from critical hits as well.

Gangrell 03-21-2003 06:58 PM

Helms do, but Ioun Stones don't.

I'm pretty certain Ioun Stones do... one of my fighters wears one, and he hasn't suffered a crithit so far...

Gangrell 03-21-2003 09:30 PM

Well, it doesn't say it does anyway.

I agree with Tancred.

I didn't suffer one critical when I wore pale green ioun stone - they always say "Critical hit aborted by helmet"

Yup, even ion stones protect from criticals. I like them because they are one of the one things my mages and thieves can wear to protect from criticals.. other than a certain one you assemble in windspeer hills.

Some Ioun stones will, others won`t... for example, I don`t think the Pearly Rose Ioun Stone does; but the Pale Green almost certainly does.
