Brave Brave Sir Garrick, Sir Garrick ran away......

He appears briefly in the Temple District. But if you really miss him just use his sounds and pics from BG1.

That web site is still down

I remember one of my first threads was a similar thread to this. I think the general opinion was the one missed most was Kivan. But there is a few others I really miss like Minsc's witch(can't spell that damn name!) and Branwen. It would be good to be able to take along Branwen instead of that pompous jerk Anmomen that's for sure! :D

TDD did well with some of the NPCs (they turned Kivan into an Archer, which was what he and Coran were meant to be in the first place), but they also screwed up big-time on some of the others. (They turned Montaron into a Swashbuckler? A Montaron that cannot BACKSTAB? Hello???)

Certain other NPCs are back, just under a different name. Quick, name me 5 notable differences between Kagain and Korgan. Or compare the stats of Ajantis and Keldorn.

BG2 doesn't need more NPCs from BG1 as much as it needs more NPCs, period. A list of what you could have had, but don't have:
Archer
Swashbuckler
Kensai
Monk
Priest of Lathander
Wild Mage (with ToB)
Avenger
Cavalier
Jester
Barbarian
Priest of Talos
Assassin
Sorcerer
Beast Master
Skald
Undead Hunter
Totemic Druid
Priest of Helm (even though Anomen clearly should be one)
Wizard Slayer
Half-Orcs? Where are the Half-Orcs?

That makes 19 classes and kits that were neglected--25, if you count the other Mage kits as well. 25 that were left out, and only 17 that were left IN. Considering that the flexibility of party makeup is what primarily drives the game's replayability, BioWare pretty much shot itself in the foot by not providing more NPCs.

yeah i would have liked more npcs, I liked Alora from BG1 and theres no good straight thief in bg2. She could really use a stat boost though.
More importantly though they should have added more evil characters 4 evil npcs is not enough

I'm not so sure that wasn't their intent, though. Granted they get nothing from me replaying the game in order to see what a Monk is like, but they do get the fact that I will tell anyone who asks "this game has awesome replay value!" due to the fact that there are *so* many combinations I've never seen in action/interaction.

I've never played through as a Blade, Inquisitor, Fighter/Druid, Cleric/Mage, Thief->Mage, Halfling Fighter, or Conjurer, though I have played through as many of the other available options, which would seem to indicate that providing NPC's of "really cool classes" might be a deterrant to me trying out "really cool classes". I miss Quayle, i mean i know he's in BG2 but you can't stick him in your party. Very handy he was, just wish i could have gotten him earlier on in the game!
