I brought Keldor back to his family. I tell him not to leave, but he tells his wife that he will stay until Imomen is found. The other option was for Keldor to return to his family for a day. However, he then departs for a week! What option allows me to keep Keldor until I win the game?

Returning him to his family for 'a day' is the better one (at least I used that one when I played with him). Things will be solved then, and you can take him along after that week you've mentioned.
