I'll post first.

My party consisting of:
Me (Ranger/Cleric) lv9/10
Minsc Lv10
Mazzy Lv9 (just picked her up from the shadow prison)
Nalia lv 12 (note this this lvl is important)
Aerie lv 10 (cleric)/ lv 9 (mage)
Yoshimo lv 14

I faced the shadow dragon (didn't see me i had the shadow wardstone). Me and Aerie casted doom with Nalia casting lower resistance. Shadow dragon was pissed off, and lumbered his way to my little party. I casted doom one more time with Nalia casting chromatic orb. BOOM! Nalia unconscious (wing buffet) and the shadow dragon dead on the spot.

Now I'm wearing its hide as my armour, got the scroll of crom fayre, buttload of gold and gems, and Nalia has something to brag about... [img]graemlins/girlsmile2.gif[/img]

Some notes:

DON'T CAST CHROMATIC ORB WHEN UR MAGE IS LV11!!!
(WILL PETRIFY UPON FAILED SAVE, AND SOON WILL BE SCATTERED!!!)
Solution: Try having stone to flesh scroll then hit it.

The SoA-only red dragon (there you go, Vedran ;) )
Cloudkill.

Sorry. Didn't realize the spoil tag was needed as the title of the thread asked for cheap ways of killing dragons. I expected the whole thread to be spoils.

Don't know if it still works with Smarter Dragons, as we had not even heard of Tactics mod that game, but Cloudkill worked against the SoA red dragon with ToB. Ok, ok, it helps to have an 11th level Monk running around in the Cloudkills (immune to the damage) being chased by the lumbering beast. Might work with a normal fighter and oil of speed, and a gazillion x-heal potions. Or a hasted mage with Spell Immunity, Evocation. Can't speak about the latter 2, though...
