ok, I'm at work so I can't exactly quote or take screen shots just yet, nor can I answer questions about what MODs I have installed, but in a few hours I'll be able to when I get home. I DO have the official patch and the Baldurdash patch, and the MODs I'm sure of are Kelsey, Silver Star (but that's getting taken off soon), Flirt Pack, Bonus Merchants, Solhoweveryouspellthedrowguy'sname, Dungeon Be Gone (go ahead and boo!), and I think Ease of Use... maybe one or two others I can't remember... But here's what's going on.

I'm trying to do a duet with my female kensai and Kelsey. With Kelsey, I have this weird glitch where it seems like when I do Jon's dungeon solo, when I first talk to Kelsey (still solo) his dialogue box is all messed up and only displays text along the last inch or two of the right side of the dialogue box, his voice doesn't come up, and when I peek in his inventory, his items all say odd things instead of descriptions... they sound like things that the game says when he's all checking me out and starting the romance, but they have other characters name's in the sentences. Also I noticed that whenever I solo and walk into the Gov Dist to get him, it pops up a TON of weird messages about extra skills Viccy gets if I add her to my party. And they too, are just random sentences and not real skills. Even once she's in my party, I can look at her spells and it just has dialogue instead of spell descriptions. The only way I've found to fix this is to have someone else in my party when I walk into the Gov Dist for the first time, and then nothing weird happens with Viccy OR Kelsey... tho I haven't tried kicking them out once Kelsey is in the party. But having someone else seems to do the trick.

Bonus merchants is fairly similar. When I talk to the merchant above the adventure's mart in the prom... promana... the place with the circus, all the items there are displayed the same way. No armor class, no damage, no only usable by this class... I get stuff like "Jeheira looks at you and eats a bagel" or something lame like that... well, not QUITE that lame, but you get the point. And that's pretty much what all the items he's selling look like too.

It seems like, somehow, it's pulling text from the flirt pack MOD and throwing it into random spots... I don't know enough about the tech end of computers to suggest what could be happening... does anyone have a clue?

Ya maybe think that having so many patches may cause a little confusion sometimes? where do you get the patches from anyway?, everyone keeps talkin about them but i ain't seen them no wheres!

When Kelsey has name problems, you can select him and press K and they should be corrected. Try that.

However, if item names and such are corrupted, you probably have a bigger problem, which was likely caused by doing something like applying the official Bioware patch AFTER you had at least one mod in. (or a "heavyweight" mod which contains its own dialog.tlk file, like The Darkest Day or Ascension-Classic.)

You have two options, as I see it:

- uninstall ALL of your mods, and then reinstall them. This may sort out the problem with the lines.

- Uninstall the GAME, reinstall it, and put things back on in the proper order:

SOA
TOB
TOB patch
mods

Really, in this case, a reinstall is probably your best option. When you uninstall the game, you should manually delete the override directory in your BG2 folder along with the weidu.log file, THEN reinstall BG2.

Your saved games will be preserved, and Kelsey will still work fine after doing a select-and-press-K routine on him. Solaufein doesn't have a talk-fixer but it sounded like you haven't encountered him yet.

I experienced a similar problem with MODS (not Kelsey). The best I could figure is something got corrupted with the MOD and TOB (it was the TOB items descriptions that were corrupted).
I uninstalled all MODs and TOB. Then reinstalled everything in the order listed by jcompton above:

SOA
TOB
TOB patch
mods

This fixed it for me.

Right. I just want to re-emphasize how important it is to manually delete override and the weidu.log file before you reinstall BG2. The former ensures that your game is REALLY restored to the base state, the latter ensures that your mods don't think they're already installed and throw a fit when they try to uninstall other, also-non-existent mods.

I'll give it a try and let everyone know how it turns out... tho now that I have access to my game I was wondering if screenshots are requested for whatever reasons before I uninstall?

No... the fact that even Viconia is screwed up tells me that you have a lot of problems and really just need a reinstall.
