Okay, this is ticking me off. Not ONCE have I completed her romance OR her Harper quest, and not from lack of trying. Every single game, her variables get hung up somewhere, stopping the quest and/or romance dead in its tracks.

The facts:</font>

• I am playing a Chaotic Good Female Wizard Slayer.</font>
• I am (rather paradoxically for a Wizard Slayer) romancing Kelsey.</font>
• Immediately after Xzar's quest was taken care of, Meronia came & summoned Jaheira. I was surprised by the promptness, as it was only Day 10 or so.</font>
• After the interview with Galvarey (which was tougher than I expected--must be my Wizard-heavy party), I got her cursed and immediately had that problem fixed.</font>
• Reviane and her group were taken care of,</font>
• and we have spoken to Dermin once.</font>

Now, every once in a while, Jaheira pipes up with "I will not tolerate this waste of time--we must move quickly!" and we have a short dialogue. Sometimes that's the end of it, although she'll go right back to that same dialogue the next day, and sometimes she'll go right back to that same dialogue immediately, in an endless loop, and the only solution is to Reload.
Questions: How do I find the variable that controls her Harper quest? Will simply adding 1 to that value force Jaheira into the next stage of what will hopefully be a satisfying quest? Is there a way I can reach into the game and throttle her within an inch of her life?

Perhaps your confusion stems from thinking that I am romancing Jaheira. I am not, that's why I said I was romancing Kelsey. Jaheira has two quests: Her Romance, and her Harper quest, which will happen regardless of the PC's class, alignment, race, or gender. Anomen is the same way.

I don't have much experience with Jaheria, but doesn't the "hurry up" dialogue mean she wants to save Imoen quickly?

no, jaheira doesnt mention imoen. Ive had the hurry up a few times as well when I shouldnt have gotten it. She sometimes mentions that we must return to the harper hold... except Ive already had the 'interview', and even If I try going back there... its locked up and I cant get in. So I dunno six... but if you find out how to strangle her... tell me

<font color="lightblue">The interview with Galvarey should only come if you`re romancing Jaheira, I thought... Merella comes right after you fight Erton Dand and co.
But anyway, ShadowKeeper should have a list of all variables you can change... I think there`s one in there somewhere called JaheiraHarperPlot or something. Fiddling round with that might yield some results. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Also look for anything that mentions 1stDerwinMeeting, MetDerwin, TalkedToDerwin, etc. </font>

<font color=white> I got the same Dialog problem with Jaheira ''I hate wasting time like this, we should hurry up'' it got me so irritated I smacked her out of my party because she was constantly forcing Dialog with me over and over again (about 3 or 4 time's in 2 minutes!).

The next game (This game I installed all the Patches) she only initiatet Dialog with me once regarding to not waste time like this, I pressume you have all the Patches installed...?

Still trying to get the blasted thing to work my self. The farthest I got was when she would sleep with me... And then every morning afterword it was the same love talk. What a little vixen! Poor Butterfingers the Bard could barely walk, he was getting all chaffed and blistery. I knew something was terribly wrong when Bhodi did not turn her into a vampire. Jay did not love me it seems, she only wanted my Bard for his body.

Good news! The problem seemed to have resolved itself. I don't know why, but Jaheira has overcome her impulse to keep talking about the same thing over and over, Dermin came a second time, Terminsel found the note blowing in the wind, and I've got her back. Now, hopefully, I might be able to see this through.

Wow.....it seems that most of you have the Harper Quest completely linked with the Jaheira Romance, unable to mentally dissociate one from the other. Don't feel bad, you're not the only ones: Jaheira herself has referred to my character as "He" at least once in her dislogues with Dermin.

karlosovic, the way to get Jaheira to the "interview" is to Rest. Besides, the door should be Unlocked (and stay that way) when you go to see Galvarey.

LennonCook, thanks for the Shadowkeeper pointers--I've never really explored the Global variables in there, I've only fiddled with the characters themselves. I'll take a look for JaheiraHarperPlot, or names of that nature. About the rest of your post, though: Who the heck is Erton Dand? I know there's a second (maybe even a third) company of Harpers that can lead to a fight, but I don't remember that name. Merella is the name of the Ranger from the Umar Hills--you probably mean Meronia. And it's Dermin, not Derwin. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Yes, I installed the official ToB and the BaldurDash ToB right before starting this game.

[Minor note: When Dermin showed up again, it scared the hell out of me, because it was in precisely the same spot, and in precisely the same manner, of a Kelsey encounter that kept killing at least 1 of my members about 15 times in a row. (That's what happens when you've just returned from a long trip out of town, and you can't Stoneskin your 3 Wizards because the Cowled Wizards will come & kick your ass. I finally had to take the fight to the Graveyard District instead.) Luckily, it turned out to be just Dermin & Beeloo--which left me with a heavily-buffed party standing there looking sheepish, with nobody to fight. [img]graemlins/blush.gif[/img] ]
