Whats so good about them? I here alot of poeple say they use them in thier party but I dont see what good they can do.

They're fighters with iron skin, insect plague, righteous magic, holy might, armor of faith .. .basically a fighter with all the good spells druids and clerics have to offer

I think they are powerful this asthe firs class i bet the game on. They are very pwerful for the solo battles in the game two and they can stay back and cast spells well shooting arrows plus 3 between castings. Its an excellent combonation.

A Cleric/Ranger cannot use Shortbows or Longsbows. They can however, use Slings.
There are two ways to play a Cleric/Ranger. The Melee Mofo, or the Hind Hellcaster. Melee Mofo: ---- Armour of Faith, Draw Upon Holy Might, Free Action, Righteous Magic, Regeneration, Iron Skins, Chaotic Commands, Physical Mirror, etc... ... This fella has so many combat boosting spells that by the time you finish buffing up, he will be all but invulnerable. With the Flail of Ages in his main-hand, and the Defender of Easthaven in his off-hand, he can SERIOUSLY dish out the pain and take it too. Crom Faeyr is WASTED on the Cleric/Ranger as he has so many STR-boosting spells, so you should pass Crom Faeyr to somebody else and just concentrate on Flails plus Two Weapon Style. In fact, if you have a base STR of 19, you do not even need a Girdle of ~~ Giant Strength ever. Cheesy tactic of the day... cast Harm, then Stealth and whack something. ;) Hind Hellcaster: ---- Choosing to stay in the rear, the Cleric/Ranger is spoilt for choice on what to do. He can either use a Sling and blast an enemy's head to kingdom come( especially since STR damage bonuses are applied to enchanted bullets), or rain hellfire and brimstone with his fantastic array of spells. Got Undead problems? False Dawn and Sunray to the rescue. Turn Undead is extreme fun too, if your Cleric side is of high enough level. Demons gnawing on your head? Bolt of Glory! Getting outnumbered? Nymphs, Skeleton Warriors, Aerial Servants, Mountain Bears, Fire Elemental, etc... ... Party needs a boost? Bless, Chant, Defensive Harmony, Chaotic Commands, Free Action, etc... ... Mage causing chaos in your party? Insect Plague, Miscast Magic, Silence 15' Radius, Creeping Doom, etc... ... Not to mention the healing spells. Cheesy tactic of the day. Make a summon hostile and cast Insect Plague on it to hit invisible enemies. There is Nature's Beauty too, but I personally feel it is bugged. |
Guys, r u all talking about a dualing ranger/cleric or a multi-classed ranger/cleric? BTW is dualing fighters to clerics any good???
|
Well, my post was based on the multiclassed version.
|
it doesnt make much difference except for the emphasis. if you multiclass, you keep getting both levels slowly. better bet I think is to dual from a straight ranger to cleric at about level 9 or 13 or something (ask someone for exact best level). dualing here gives you pretty good combat skills from the ranger, and then you become solid cleric as well.
the difference between fighter->cleric and ranger->cleric: -fighter cleric: great thaco and can get mastery+ in flails, slings etc (handy because clerics cant use many weapons, so you want them to be good at the few they CAN use) -ranger cleric: not as good thaco or weapon skills as the fighter, but has free ++ in dual wielding... and you have spells! lots of them! Priest spells are split into 2 groups: Cleric and Druid. some spells overlap, some dont. ranger/clerics are the ONLY characters in the game who get the WHOLE priestly spellbook. just do it. |

P.S. You don't have to waste a summon by turning it hostile--I.P. and C.D. can be targeted on friendly creatures as well, and it still works perfectly. Quote:
