alright, so i'm finally out of the underdark, it took me a bit too long with this group because i found it necessary to kill absolutely everyone i could find in there (despite being evil aligned...but still necessary for RPing aspects, getting quite offtopic hear). Anyway, i had cromwell fry up the crom faer for me, and now i'm stuck with a nagging question.
One of my characters is a kensai dualed cleric that has been a backup character through many of my games (reexporting every few chapters), with grand mastery in mace/flail and warhammer, as well as max stars allowed in dual weapon proficiency. My question is, when i'm lugging around Crom and FoA, which should be onhand and which offhand? any suggestions? thx --rhap [edit] by mace/flail i meant morning star/flail... You have to look at the secondary on-hit effects. Crom has none, its only secondary is that it gives 25 STR. FoA does elemental damage and slows.
Main hand weapon hits much more often, so putting FoA in the main hand will mean you get more slowed enemies. |
yeah foa main hand crom off hand is definetly better. a good combo for defense is foa and defender of easthaven(especially when you consider armor of faith)

Hmmm, I have to agree that ages is probably most effective in the main hand for the sole reason that it slows, but don't be so quick to rule out Crom as a main hand weapon in SoA.
It's damage is superior to many weapons: 2D4+3, +5 electrical damage = 13 damage average (compared to Ages 10.5) . AFAIK, this SoA average is surpassed only by the impailer spear (and that requires two hands), and Crom's elemental damage will punch right through stoneskins like Ages. People are always quick to put Crom in the Offhand, but it is an awesome weapon that should not be underestimated! |
Ah, but by the time you have Crom, you probably already have weapons that outshine it in terms of offensive melee capability--Celestial Fury would be the best example. Crom is still an excellent tool for the daily grind of Whack-a-Mole, but you can still get most of its value even when it's sitting in your offhand.
