need some help here, i'm in the temple ????? (sorry didn't pay attention to the name) that is pretty beat up outside. Got to the room with the well and the golem (type , i forgot) and the water elemental. HOW THE HELL DO YOU KILL THEM??? My paladin has a +1 hammer, my cleric, mage/cleric and druid have the holy hammer spell. the golem seems to get hit by the holy hammer weapons(seems only +2-3 weapons effect these creatures) but the water elemental creature seems above all that. How do i kill it SPELLS, WEAPONS, etc ???? I have completed the castle (nalia quest) and some minor things in the big city. I have really on just started the game so some little forsight into this little problem would be great. I have (as NPC) in the group
paladin - myself yoshimo jaheira minsc aerie anomen |
i'm so confused, what exactly does this have to do with garren's kid?, o wait are you at that bridge w/ the well.
moving on, sounds like you need +2 or better weapons. considering what you've done you should have a couple of better weapons,(flail of ages, a couple of axes, possibly the staff of rhynn come immediately to mind) |
to answer your question, yes. I am at the bridge right now. These weapons, where would one come by them? do i have to buy them or they belong to some other quest i need to complete? The (outside city) quests i have completed really is the nalia quest and the minor one in the city. Should i come back later or what? I have not gone to the umberhills as of yet, should i do that quest first?
some pointers would be appreciated. thanks |
Well golems can be quite a pain at sometimes due to their immunites. They usually have a huge magic resistance so to actually hurt them, you should cast lower resistance on them first and a greater malison to lower their saving throws. A spell that works quite well vs golems is Melfs Minute Meteors. It usually takes two of these to kill a golem, or one for the lesser ones.
Fighting Clay golems? They can only be hit by blunt weapons, such as clubs, maces and fists or staves. Iron golems is immune to normal weapons and can only be hit by +3 weapons or greater. Same goes for Adamentine Golems. Dont bother to use bows or slings as theres no +3 arrows/bullets in the game. Item spoilers: . . . . . . Flail of ages location: Nalias Keep(3 pieces that needs to be reforged in Nalias Keep) Staff of Rhynn location: Sold at Adventures Mart(quite expensive though) The air elemental is quite vulnerable to magic I think, but low lvl spells wont do much. You should be able to hit him with +2 weapons IIRC... |

there's a twohanded sword +2 under copper coronet. there are lotsa weapons in nalia's keep, check the golem room behind her aunt's room(2nd floor), you'll have to import the foa if you still want it. the staff of ryhnn is about 20000 but will serve most of the game

TRUTH:
Wandering around with a +1 Warhammer is silly. Irenicus would be hooting with laughter if he could see you now. You have already passed one of the very best weapons in the game. Go back to the de'Arnise Keep and search high and low for "Flail heads." There are 3 of them. Unless you have the "All-Strongholds" MOD installed, they will still be there. You do NOT have to "import" (cheat) the Flail into your game. You will also find a good Axe, which is also capable of hitting any Golem except Clay ones. The only weapons that can harm a Clay Golem must be Blunt, and of +1 enchantment or higher. Fists won't work, unless you're a Monk. Stone Golems (and possibly Sand Golems, though those are quite rare) can be hit by any +2 weapon. Iron Golems and Adamantite Golems require +3 weapons to hit, and they also have very high resistance to all forms of physical damage. The sword that Angelousss mentioned is actually +3 enchanted. [ADD:] Lower Magic Resistance is a very useful spell. Because of this, BioWare made it somewhat difficult to find: You won't find it among the random loot on the various beasts you kill. You might find it for sale in the Adventurer's Mart or by doing certain major quests. [ 02-19-2003, 06:36 PM: Message edited by: SixOfSpades ] |
he has to talk to somebody to get one of the heads(acid i think) actually i've never been sure who to talk to exactly or what exactly to say, i've always had to import the acid head
everyone says be nice to nalia, i always am and still get nothing |

the adventurer's mart also has something that comes in supreme handy for this task: a ring of air control. This is one of the best rings in the game: improved invisibility, and if your mage botches an air elemental summon on a 16HD air elemental, you can get it back no problem. Plus, the mart has an INFINITE number of these rings. I'd charm the air elemental and send it up against the golems. Keep in mind that the lesser golems wont be able to hit it, but the greater golems will.
