ok i just bought Baldurs Gate and i can get as far as the map after the ambush where your stepfather dies but when i try to leave the game crashes saying "An assertion failed in D:\Dev\Chitin\Chvidimage.cpp at line 1072"
I went to the Interplay Homepage and downloaded their newest update 8.2.99 i think it was, My comp is

30G Hd
SBlive Platinum Sound card
ATI Raidon Graphics Card
Can someone tell me how to fix this problem

I can only guess, but what you might want to try is to put in cd No. 2 before leaving that map. If that doesn't help try reinstalling the game and the latest patch. If you don't want to start all over again, store your save game folder elsewhere and copy it later into the save game folder of the reinstalled game.
