In Nashkel there is a grave yard where you can click on stones, and see what their inscriptions are, and there is one that, when you click on it, a mage appears and tells you that he has faked his death and since you messed with his grave stone he is going to kill you. As soon as he is done he casts a spell and is unsummoned, while a ton of pheonix guars appear. Is this guy part of a quest? I beat him once before he spoke and all he had was 50 gp, also he was back the next time I clicked on the grave. I have beaten his peonix guards as well, but they do is give you 100 xp, and blow up. What is the deal here?

I don't believe there is a deal. Just a fun way to get EXP...I mean...who spends time clicking on gravestones? I did!

Test your true skills.
A tough battle. Just Black Isle's reward for fully exploring the game. ------------------ http://www.asnsoup.com/a.jpg |
True it is a tough battle, but with little reward

Let me amend that, if you don't want to lose a ton of reputation, but want to get the 3,000gp, and 2 1,500gp gems that that guy (sorry cannot remember his name right now) in Nashkel that pays bounties (the gems he will only have if you gave him them for the bounty). You can "acidentally" kill him by killing one of the pheonix guards near him. You can also get the town guard's stuff this way.

Hmm....interesting way of killing Oublek. Not that I'd kill him to get the Emeralds back, I just think he's a real idiot. As for getting the Amnish Soldiers' gear, I just Pickpocket them as they walk by....they usually have a Garnet or two....and I LOVE their helmets, especially with the Ankheg armor, so what I do to get one is on my way back from the Mines, I have a Stealthed Thief and send him up to Nimbul. Nimbul goes hostile, the guards see him and attack him, and Nimbul chucks some axes and eventually kills one. Free helmet. Meanwhile, the guards are slowly removing some of Nimbul's Mirror Images. I can call off the guards at any time by having my Thief walk out of Nimbul's sight range.

Who is Nimble?

SPOILER - - - - - He has nice boots od Avoidance so ranged weapon has very little use - no use I would say. My way to get rid of him (but without fancy Amnish helmets ;() is to set my party around him while he is approaching me. After little talk he turns hostile and ALL (including Xan with his sword) my guys are hitting. In such case he casts horror first, so I cast protection from fear and one other (Psalm?) protecive spell before our talk. Usually I disrupt his second spell and kill him before his third attempt.
