The reason I ask is because there are some characters in the BG series that will beg for their life, sometimes in exchange for information. If they are bad, is it evil to kill them?
|
lawful good: dont kill
neutral good: if they offer info, dont kill chaotic good: kill them b/c they are evil those are my codes of conduct...my personal favorite here: Chaotic Evil: do not kill when they offer information, get the information, then kill them anyway. |
If they offer information, take it in exchange for their life. although.. sometimes to uphold the law you must take actions of execution...

It depends on how you want to roleplay the situation.
There are various ways to interpret any of the alignments, for example: Situation: Orc offers info to have life spared Lawful Good --If info is valuable, agree. When information is gained, let orc go in order to keep your word. --If info is valuable, agree. When info gaine, take orc to prison for crimes. --as above, but kill orc after getting info since deals made with an evil creature don't need to be honored. --Orcs are an evil race. No good can come from recieving help from evil, and evil must not be allowed to live. Just kill it. --Orc is not a threat to the player, nor has player personally witnessed it commit any acts that warrant execution. Let orc live whether or not information is needed. There are lots of ways to interpret any of the alignments, just decide what you think your character would do in the situation; just apply your principles consistently (or not for chaotic characters). |
I almost always kill these types of creatures. I simply can't risk the chance of the evil creature repeating their offenses. Like the orc in Firkraag's dungeon, he says he ate children. Does he really expect me to believe that he won't go off and join another group of evil-doers? Now, I did allow Daveorn's apprentice in BG to live. And my character is neutral good.
