I am considering making a kensai-mage for my next game, i just have two quick questions though.

I know kensai's cannot wear armor, but after dualed to a mage, can they wear robes?(vecna)

My other question is can they still use fighter-class swords when they have been dualed?(katana's and such)

Yes the Kensai mage can wear the robe of vecna *grinz*

And also yes, the kensai mage CAN use katanas etc... but only once the Kensai has advanced to a higher level than the mage. i.e. 10th level Kensai duals to a mage, he needs to become a 11th level mage before he gets his fighter abilities and THACO back.

P.S. If you save all of the scrolls you find before dualling, you can usually get to L11/L12 as a mage simply by learning new scrolls.

If you want to get that many levels through reading scrolls, make sure you are soloing, or boot your party members before reading them (you can always recruit them right back when you're done)

You can usually re-recruit them.

Oh ya, I forgot that some of them don't ask for confirmation before disappearing.

With most of them, they will walk up to you and ask if you're sure about booting them, so if you walk a ways away from them, boot them, pause, learn all the scrolls and level up, unpause, and they will ask if you're sure and you can say it was a false alarm.

Usually the problem with not getting them back is due to reputation/alignment conflicts, correct? So it shouldn't be a problem near the beginning of the game.

Anyone know if booting a character, then changing your mind when they prompt affects the romances?

I´m pretty sure if you kick Jaheira out of the party u can kiss your romance bye-bye...
