hi, I was just wondering how long time does it take for the npc quest to come? sinc i wan to make my own party and take the npc´s in and then drop them but i dont want them to take alot of my XP! so can i just rest alot of times or do i have to walk around? ... thanks/ Calsiumus

Well, it takes a little while, but it's not as though they will first begin when you're halfway through the game.

Unless you rush to pay Aran/Bodhi they will usually all happen in chapter 2.

Jaheira's two quests (disregarding the romance ones) both require you to do something first. The Baron Ployer one will trigger once you bring Jaheira to the Seas Bounty (a tavern in the docks). The other quest will not trigger before you have done the Xzar/Montaron and the Harpers quest.

I don't know but I think that you can force both Edwin's and Korgan's quest by going to the lower crypts in the Graveyards.

Anomen - messenger arrives after five days
Edwin - just go to the tombs
Jaheira - dunno
Jan - Beeloo arrives after fifteen days pass
Keldorn - he'll start talking when you pass by his home (Firecam Estate)
Korgan - just go to the tombs
Mazzy - Danno is coming after 60000 pass (60000 of what? I don't know)
Nalia - Will start whining after three days

The others have no time limited quest that I can remember on top of my head. If you recall any, remind me.

Anomen: Starts soon after joining, involves lots of waiting
Cernd: Starts after completing the Druid Grove, then returning to Athkatla
Edwin: Starts when you take him to the Graveyard District, involves lots of waiting

Jaheira: Starts soon after completing Poisoned Man / Xzar luvs Monty quest. Involves lots of waiting.
Jan: 15 days after joining the party
Keldorn: Starts when you take him to the Government District (or he'll remind you)

Nalia: Starts soon after going to her father's funeral
Valygar: Starts when you get him

Anomen Delryn: A messenger appears after sometime. After that he joins Radiant Heart.
Cernd: Starts in Trademeet. After Druid grove you start his second quest. I think it starts in Waukeens Promanade.
Edwin Odesseiron: Go into the crypts under the Graveyard district. Directly under the spider den.
Haer Dalis': Starts in Merkraths lair, under the Temple District.
Imoen: excluding the whole rescue operation, none
Jaheira: Starts with you going to the Sea's Bounty Tavern. Next sub quest involves the Harper Hold.
Jan Jansen: Leaves home after a week or so. Starts right there.
Keldorn Firecam: After you go to the Government District. At the latest when you pass his manor.
Korgan: Immediatly after recruiting him.
Mazzy Fentan: After you save her from the Temple Ruins. Might have to go to Trademeet to trigger quest. Not positive 'bout that.
Minsc: none
Nalia: Beside her keep quest, it starts after a week or so after completing keep.

Valygar: Right after you take him into your party.
Viconia: none, unless saving her from vampirism(romance required) counts
